Try and keep racist comments out of it. If I consider a question insulting then i'll refuse to answer it. Other than that i'll answer anything related to Israel.

The target is always militants, always. The reason we airstrike places is as retaliation for suicide bombings. Occasionally innocents get killed, but militants also get killed. Also don't forget that the terrorists use kids and women as shields.

I believe that while Sharon and Arafat are in power there is no hope for peace. Whilst Iran and Syria still donate billions of USD every year to the terrorists there will be trouble. Iran and Syria want Israel to increase the amount of land they have. Even if it did go to the Palestinians I give it less than a week before Syria and co attack them. Syria already owns Lebanon.

How do you feel about the difference between Republican and Democrat positions on Israel and why do you suppose that the Jewish vote in America tends to go to the Democrats.

I will profess to knowing NOTHING about American politics. I know about Israel and England.

In addition to the "wall" how do you feel about the viability of a 20ft deep water filled moat (for lack of a better word) along the edge of this wall. I think that this would solve the problem of tunnels that serve as a conduit for arms being smuggled beneath the wall...even if someone could tunnel deeper, the soil would risk being saturated as well as increasing the efforts of embarking on such an excursion itself. Naturally there is an expense involved and it is no solution to the rockets and mortars lobbed overhead, but it may be at least one idea to allow focus upon one other area of security upon its completion.

Peace upon you all, both sides.

I must admit to not having heard that one yet!
It would be a good idea but the tunnels are mostly between Gaza and Egypt. That way Egyptian terrorists and groups like the Hamas can exchange weapons. It would be an interesting idea, the current wall however serves very well for stopping terrorists. I don't know if you know but Israel has a severe water shortage. The Kineret (sea of gallilee) is one of the only sources of water in Israel. A moat such as you suggest would take up an amount of water that Israel just doesn't have. Also, it might ruin the land there and the wall won't stand forever. Some day the land may be used for farming so you can't ruin it now.

What's army service like? How do you feel about serving in the territories? Do you feel sorry for the Palestinians? How do you feel about the settlers? The haredim? The refusenik soldiers?

Who would you elect PM if there were new elections?

Oh yeah... who would you like to see as Palestinian PM?

Israel once negotiated a treaty which would give back 97% of the territories to the Palestinians in exchange for peace. Hamas unleashed a 2 week bombing spree the likes of which hadn't been seen before. The treaty, fell. Hamas want ALL of Israel, and when they and Al-Fatah (Arafats group) and Al-Aqsa join together, they can cause some serious hell. The Palestinian minority who blow up Israeli citizens are ruining the chance for peace for the majority who want it.

1) Palestinian PM would be irrelevant, if Arafat was still there and not rotting in a jail somewhere then he would be calling the shots.

2) Israeli PM, the best we ever had (obviously) would have to be Rabin. But he got shot so he's out of the running. There's talk of Barak running again so I'd probably vote for him.

3) i think that if a person has to choose between his family and the army, they should pick the family. They shouldn't be forced to clear settlers if they're family and friends are amongst them. That said, Tzahal are very strict on people joining the army. You can:
1. Claim pacifism and get put in modi'in or somewhere like that.
2. be a haredi, but you'll have to be ultra-orthodox (the ones that wear black) to get out of army service.
3. Claim physical disabilities but again, that would probably get you an office job.
Those are practically your only ways to get out of combat roles.

4) I believe that the settlers are not only as bad as the Hamas, they're trying to cause civil war by their resistance. That said, only a minority actually care about staying. The majority just want compensation.

5) Of course I feel sorry for the Palestinians but while they continue to believe that Israel is the one oppressing them then they'll never get out of it. Arafat has done a brilliant job in keeping them oppressed and making it look like the Israelis.

6) I wouldn't serve in the territories. If I had to pick an army job I would sit quite happily in Modi'in (and because of my good English they'd probably like it too).

7) I haven't done army service. I only arrived in Israel last year.

* Just want to butt - in for a moment with my own education ( all-be-it of an out-sider ) on one matter raised,

In relation to " inasint " women and children being killed, by which I assume you mean civilian casualties, I recall a documentry made once that showed the weapons fired by the helicopters, in-so-far as the rockets used to kill militants in the streets have reduced war-heads to minimise or remove the risk of civilian casualties.

Does not always work, but they do try to reduce it.

Oh ! My Question ! :D

Aside from the you know, risk of stuff exploding here and there ( which is rapidly becoming a lot of places these days, ) is it a nice place to live ? You know, the history to the religions and the places of it all ?

Like I said 97% of would-be suicide bombers never get as far as exploding. Israel is a very nice place to live, depending on where you live. I live near Haifa and it's very nice. There are cities like Be'er Sheba which look awful. It has more history than most other countries put together. Also, maintaining history is extremely important to them so you get some incredible historical sites. During the peak of the intifada, every cafe or restaurant or shop you went into would have a security guard standing outside so that could make you feel a bit nervous. But it's important and I would rather that they were standing there than the alternative.

I know the importance of Jeruselem to Christians and Muslims, but why is it a sticking point for Jews? It seems peace could be achieved (if even limited), if Jeruselem could be under palestinian rule. If I'm not mistaken Israel refuses to consider even partial control and the Palestinians refuse peace if it doesn't involve all of Jeruselem.

What gives?

The Muslims have the Dome of the Rock (Mosque) and Jews have the western wall. The real question is, what interests do the Christians have there. Neither Bethlehem nor Nazareth are in Jerusalem! Jerusalem is the most important holy site in the world for Jews. For Muslims its Mecca. Therefore surely we have a better claim than anyone to the area.

The only way to find out would be to test it out:)
It would be difficult but there are rich Jews who would donate out of their own pockets so I doubt we would recieve no aid. I believe that we could survive but i'd rather not try it out! There would be plenty of people willing to donate i'm sure. anyone here want to donate?
