I hate Internet explorer. When I had 56k, yes IE was ok because i didnt get any pop-ups. but when i got cable... wow! 7-20 pop-ups everytime i got on!

Then I heard about Mozilla Firefox, and wow again! It was incredible: fast, reliable, no pop-ups... it was beautiful.

Does anybody use anything differently? because no im using Opera, which has a feature that allows multi-page browsing instead of opening new windows- which i really enjoy.

Firefox and Opera are definately my favorites. Safari on apple computers seems to be pretty nice too, and I heard about something called Konqueror that i havent tried yet.

Anybody else?

I have Optimum Online, which was allowing account holders to register w/Panicware for free and get a Pop-up Stopper (Pop-up Stopper is godly, I tell you!)

Since the creation of the MSN toolbar, pop-ups are (mostly) no longer a problem in Internet Explorer.

Like with Opera, firefox allows for "tabbed browsing," but you usually have to specifically tell it that you want to open a new tab, and you need to either manually hit the tab or touch thye keyboard to switch between them- fewer useful mouse gestures.
With Opera, and this is it's selling point for me, you can recline the whole way on your chair, press the right mouse key, and open, close, or swich between windows with one tiny flick of the wrist. Because they're movement instead of location based, you don't have to worry about actually clicking on specific spots, just so long as you move it right.
However, to get the preview function on threads at SDMB (and I think here, too), you need to put the mouse cursor over one the edge-lines, instead of anywhere in the box of the thread name, like with Firefox & IE. A few other poorly programmed things don't work in Opera, either, but work perfectly in Mozilla.

Mozilla Fiire fox is the way forward.

Stopping pop-ups is just a part of security, the fact is IE has the dubious honour of lots of viruses and attacks being written specifically for it, so the alternative browsers are immune to an awful lot of threats. I use Spybot S&D and Ad Aware still, but they don't find much now I use Firefox!

In a word, wise up and get off IE, even with SP2...

To use Konqueror, you have to run Linux, with KDE as the GUI. Konqueror's pretty good.
