Just listened to the Forrest Gump soundtrack. It is amazing and I left off some classics: "Light my Fire," "Mrs. Robinson," "Respect," "On the Road Again," "California Dreamin'," and "Can't Help Myself,"

My favourite is Ennio Morricone's Soundtrack to the Sergio Leone western film Once Upon a Time in The West. It's so beautiful.

Michael Nyman's The Piano Soundtrack is also wonderful.
Cannot think of a name

Last time someone did this thread I was shamed when someone mentioned Alexander Nevsky by Prokofiev, which I hadn't remembered. (though they where insulting about it, so pphhhhhhhhbbblllllttttt!!!!!)

But having Prokofiev on the soundtrack to a Eisenstien film is the definition of an unfair advantage.

Once Upon a Time in the West is a good call.
But those are scores.

I hate the Forrest Gump soundtrack for the following reasons, which vary in legitimacy and are not a reflection of the individual songs:
1) I worked in movie theaters at the time of that film, and one of the managers of one the theater I worked the longest at played that soundtrack so often I'm now confident I will pass it on as part of my DNA.
2)The movie was the biggest fetishisation of nostalgia that existed on the planet, that is until VH-1's current programing (where they've managed to be nostalgic about last week. Amazing.)

I have to say that no one assembles a soundtrack like Quentin Tarantino. I know that's a generic fanboyish thing to say, but in all reality-whether you like his movies or not, he puts a soundtrack together so well the songs are forever after associated with the film, no matter how well established they where before hand (Stuck in the Middle comes to mind)

I think that the Lord of the Rings soundtrack rocks, but I can't get the CD or my parents will think that I have officially lost it.

I'll go with I Am Sam. And then if it pleases, Let it Be. Shawshank Redemption had an amazing track too come to think of it.

Forrest Gump wasn't Nostalgia for me as I was born in 1987. It was a good movie and I loved the music used. The only song in the movie that the soundtrack lacks is "Freebird" (I would guess it was a contractual thing, but they have another Lynyrd Skynyr song "Sweet Home Alabama" on it)

Saturday Night Fever is still the best ever.

Screw it I'm taking the wife out dancing tonight. Papa going to get some lovings tonight.

Listen to the ground:
There is movement all around
There is something goind down
And I can feel it

On the waves of the air
There is dancin' out there
If it's something we can share
We can steal it
