missile defense shield
what do the american boardies here think of it?
personally, i don't like it, as physicists close to the project are saying that it won't work. as a physics student i may be a little more biased to agreeing with physicists, but that's beside the point.
and other than that, the u.s. government wants canada to foot part of the bill. i would much rather see my tax money go to the health and well being of my fellow countrymen and women than weapons in space.

Beyond the fact that it will not work, it can also cause more damage than it is worth.
Example: Unnamed country wants to attack the US. Know the US only has, say, maybe 40 defense missiles ready to be launched. So the country would then fire 41 missiles to make sure one hits. Furthermore, the accuracy of the defense missiles is very questionable and chances are more than half of them would miss their target. Thus the missile defense system actually encourages more more damage to be caused. It does the exact opposite of what it is designed to do.

I don't think the shield would be to deter countries like China or Russia that could put up so many missiles it would flood the system but rather ones like North Korea who do (or will) have capability to hit the US with some missiles but don't have the money or equipment to build a whole lot.
well, the system can only shoot down one thing at a time. and it can't tell the difference between a decoy and a real missile.

missile and shield dont go together. a shield is something that blocks stuff, a defense item, missiles are offensive items. they do not consitute shields

well,it's supposed to be a shield against missiles, it uses lasers.
