what do u think of them?

You're probably going to have to define a chav for most people... I think chav's are okay lol, they've never done anything bad for me, and if i need a bottle of something they're always nice enough about it.

What the heck? Chavs are people who dress kind of funny, so what? What could possibly be so bad about them?

Funny, they look like pretty much every white teenage male I see in public areas. What so bad about them?

They actually remind me of my bestfriends older brothers(that and pretty much every teenage male on Eastenders).

Well in alot of places in the UK they are the height of evil, tht is if you are anything other than one of them. They hang around in groups on street corners, smoke, hurl abuse at passes by, start finish and include along the way the word "f*ck" in every sentance a dozen times, and their grammer is appauling. They're the people who keep the gold sovreing business alive, they carry more bling than mr. T, also they walk with a limp that'd make a cripple look swarve, they are and will always be a bunch of complete arses. have a nice day.

Chavs, Neds, Townies, Kevs, Charvers, Steeks, Spides, Bazzas, Yarcos, Ratboys, Kappa Slappers, Skangers, Scutters, Janners, Stigs, Scallies, Hood Rats,etc.

I have never even heard of neds or spides or most of these before. Mst of the ppl that will mug you will fall into that category. If your not a scally than you dont like scallies is theusual view. I dont like scallies as they are direspectful to everyone, are arrogant, aggressive and intimidating. They also never listen to others opinions and are selfish. This won't apply to all of them , just most.

However they are overused terms for large groups of people.

Well the swearing thing does sound like Taz's brother(and maybe someone offf of Eastender, I try to that show).
But all the ones I meet don't bother anyone(except maybe...Antony. Oh yeah! He's probably about 19 now. When I lived in my old house he was 15. He and his mate Twan always smoked near the square. They were rude and pigheaded.). I guess they're more likely to mug you, but isn't the most unlikely people who steal? It's just sad to label a group of people just cauz of the way they dress.

I do not dislike people for how they dress, speak or look. I dislike them becase of the way they act. Discriminate on looks of suchlike is as small minded and fickle as them. Not all gold chained badly spoken people are chavs, just certain ones. Just the ones that do the sort of things that follow.

The fact they are responsible for all the fights in bars in my home town, and my students union too. I dislike the way that we can be in the union trying to have fun and chavs start insulting us and fighting, having only come down to the basement to the rock night for quick drinks they start mocking us.

Then there is the time 50 people started fighting and I should have got a bus home, but it was cancelled because the driver was talking to the police, but no one was available to tell us so we stood in the cold for one hour. At three AM in January.

I also dislike the way they treat the opposite sex, they treat eachother like objects, and then the ones that dont just take the sh*t from the others. But I guess lots of people do that really... um..

They threaten my friends because, unlike me, they arent six feet high and two and a half wide at the shoulders. One drunkenly climbed in out kitchen window and started smahing things because she wanted a ciggarette. She was 15, and drunk. (Just my 5 foot female housemates in at the time).

Anyway, you get the idea.

Wearing cheap and nasty clothes is one thing. Being cheap and nasty is another...

Oh. I just assumed that they were people who dressed and talked a certain way while listening to the streets. If this is not the case and chavs are just people like you discribed then, all chavs must suck.

it depends on how you define them really. Its not perfectly clear, but most intellegent people use my definition.

Chav isnt a dictionary word yet, but people who call themselves chavs are more foten the silly dressed ones. While the insult "chav" refers to the most low of low.
