What Games Have You Been Playing?

Just wondered what everyone's been playing, and on what console, handheld, PC, etc.

I recently got Doom 3, which I've enjoyed playing (scary as shit though), and UT04, both on the PC. How 'bout everyone else?

Rome: Total War. It is quite possibly the best stragety game I've ever played. You can fight as the Romans or one of eleven other factions including Greeks, Carthagenians, Gauls, and Egyptians. Fan-frickin'-tastic.

In a week or so I'll be picking up Evil Genious. The reviews weren't too hot, but the game really looked up my ally.

I've recently become addicted to this site (http://gametableonline.com/)

It's a place to play table top games like Nuke War and Kill Dr. Lucky online with other folk. Kinda fun, I haven't been able to play these games since high school.

I don't get what everyone loves about this game...Fair enough, I have only played the demo (Cyber Duck is my bro, he downloaded it), but I didn't like it all that much. To me it's just another RTS, nothing special. I ain't so keen on any RTSs so I guess it's to be expected that I don't like it. FPS all the way, baby.

As of the moment, nothing. My hardrive has died and I am using this crappy little temp machine while waiting for another hard drive to be delivered. However, back when the old one worked I played:

Civilization 3, Warcraft 3, Diablo 2, and the Baldur's Gate series.

Ugh, I didn't like that game too much.

However, I've been playing Fable on XBox, and it's just an absolutely fantastic game. It's by the guys who made Black and White on PC. Great ideas, but the game itself kind of flopped.

Fable, however, is far from a flop. It's so much fun!

Fable is the biggest dissapointment in the history of video games. The game that you are playing is a stripped down, castrated version of the masterpiece it was intended to be.

Bah, smelly PS2 ;-) Battlefront any good?

Hey! I love my PS2, and once I get the new on in like two weeks, I'll be playing Battlefront and Socom and all those goodies on line. :p

Battlefront is good, but a bit overrated in what it offers. I think they hyped it up in all the commercials to make you think you could all this customizing battles stuff, and you can't... you just play the prescriped ones, but, otherwise the graphics are pretty damn good and the controls are so comfortable. I beat it in two days and missed five classes in the process!

The biggest draw of the Total War series is the combinations of a Turn-Based world with Real-Time battles. The demo didn't include any of the Turn-Based portions, so you didn't get to see how well they interact. Plus, the combination solves one of my big problems with anouther favorite of mine, Civilization 3, which is that it allows spearmen to consistantly defeat my tanks.

I've just started a game of Civ III, but it's not going so well (I can consistently win on Warlord, but Regent is tough!)
However, mostly I've been playing Day of Defeat. It's an excellent online Half-Life mod set in WWII, so you play as Axis or Allies with real WWII weapons!
V. fun.

I don't care if the graphics now look crappy and that there's no voice acting, it's just a damned good game. Best of the series.

Rome: Total War. I bought Medieval a while after it came out. I loved it and promptly conquered the world. Rome's strategic map plays like Civ3 (awesome game), and the RTS portion is very well done too. You have to see the scale of some of the battles you can get going in the game. Cavalry charges like The Battle of Pellennor field (LOTR ROTK). All in all, one of the best games I have bought in a long, long, time. 100%

The Longest Journey. My favorite adventure game ever. The story is unequalled in any other game IMO. Beautiful background scenes, and although the 3d looks a bit dated, it doesn't detract from the game much at all. 100%

Armed and Dangerous. Entertaining TPS that's just about mindlessly blowing stuff up. Good story as well, and the cutscenes are incredibly funny. Even if you don't like shooters, check it out for the cutscenes. They're worth it. 85%.

Homeworld 2. Looks really great. I loved the original Homeworld and this one is just as good. Any sci-fi movie that has huge fleets battling it out in space would be put to shame by this game. The story is interesting, although not as vicereally appealing as the original's was. Not too many multiplay options, but mods fix that quite easily. 90%.

Farcry, Sim City 4, Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour, Rise of Nations Thrones and Patriots, And some games on my Palm, Oh and The Sims 2, of course.

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments about FF8. One of, if not the, best games that I have ever played on a console. Hours of fun. Sadly my disc got destroyed, so I haven't been able to play it.

Ah, Edea...You foxy lady. And don't get me started about Rage and Fujin. Made talkin in all caps cool again.

I first played the MMOFPS, Planetside, back in June and I advanced quite high but I decided not to renew my subscription due to lag problems.

However, with my new 512mb 3200 DDR RAM chip the lag problems are mostly solved, and my God, I'm enjoying this game, especially due to the addition of giant mechs to the game. :D

Here's a link (http://planetside.station.sony.com/) for your trouble.
