When Right Wing Nutcases Attack!

I feel it is my duty as a patriotic, moral, and ethical American to inform the people on Nationstates that back President Bush of the following:

Your comrades are using dirty tricks here in Ohio to try and swing the state decisively in George Bush's favor!

Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, the Republican officeholder in charge of voter registration here, is attempting to disqualify thousands of voter registration applications based on the fact that the applications were printed on incorrectly-weighted paper. Paper! Blackwell is threatening to disqualify any applications not printed on 80-pound stock paper, claiming that the applicants must re-apply. But there is no TIME to reapply! The election is too close, and you must register within 30 days of the election to vote at the least! This is a shameless move by the Republicans to try and deprive voters of their voices!

That's not the only thing that is going on here in Ohio. I have heard unconfirmed rumors of Kerry volunteers and staffers being threatened and even attacked in my locality. I myself put up political advertisements on the public bulletin boards at my college...none of them last more than 24 hours. They all get torn down. Yet Bush ads and Nader ads (ironic, since Nader just got kicked off the Ohio ballots for election fraud) have remained untouched for weeks.

Come on, Republicans! We may have our disagreements, but I don't tear down your signs. I shouldn't be beaten up for trying to stand up for my own ethics and morals. I shouldn't have to constantly fight JUST to make my voice heard! Do you sincerely want to vote for a man who has created a political culture that encourages this kind of repression? This is the United States of America, not Nazi Germany!

This is why it's a huge mistake to try and religiously-polarize a representative government. People think anything is justifiable, even if it destroys everything America stands for in the process.

More surely than anything any terrorist could hope to do, I might add.

Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it.

I heard about this a few days ago.
Didn't Blackwell decide to give up soon after, since it just wasn't worth the effort and bad publicity?

Last night, a spokesman for Blackwell denied that the GOP officeholder was trying to prevent people from voting and said county boards should accept voter registration forms on paper of any weight as long as they are otherwise valid.

...Blackwell was reversing his Sept. 7 directive...
