Personally, I think that Kerry handed Bush a serious defeat. Although Bush made no major mistakes, he should have been dealing it out since the debate topic was his signature issue. The fact that he looked like a deer caught in the headlights of some oncoming car did not play well to the cameras.
Kerry impressed me. I have long thought of him as a pompous ass in his interviews, and though I agreed with him sometimes, I also begrudged him for his erudite attitude.
However, since I have no idea how it played with the rest of America, and the political scene is so divisive now anyway, I can't in good conscious claim that he was the winner.
