How will the media mold this debate over the next few days?

If history repeats, the mainstream media will generally emphasize minute missteps from Kerry, build up Bush's "likeability", and not generally call Bush on his own mistakes (Saddam attacked us, straying off topic, referring to a plan he never presented, etc...)

What do the rest of you think?

By the way, as I write this, both CNN and MSNBC's post-debate polls show that Kerry won the debate by more than a 2-1 margin. My guess is Kerry's numbers will fall as the Rove spinmeisters re-work reality and make people disbelieve what they saw with thier own eyes.

Bush also loses on the all-important sigh criteria BTW.

CNN and MSNBC have said that it was a small victory for Kerry, but nothing more. This contradicts their unscientific but quick polls that show Kerry winning easily.

CBS conducted a scientific poll--as compared to the internet polls on the other news sites--that showed Kerry winning handily.

But the spin has already started. It started weeks ago with the lowered expectations game, and was ratcheted up by Brent Bozell's Media Research Center earlier today when they started the meme that Jim Lehrer would be biased against Bush while performing as the moderator.

I still fear Rove. Reality bends and changes. If, a few days from now, Bush is declared the debate winner, I will officially lose all my faith in my fellow man.
