Quick after-debate poll

Who came out looking better?

(Poll to follow...or not. I'll tally tomorrow)

Kerry, Bush, about equal, or neither.

I noticed whenever Bush had to answer one of Kerry's points, he ummed and erred a lot and floundered occassionally. It was sometimes obvious that he was trying to work out a way to get onto a pre-prepared speech.
Look at the nuclear prolifligation bit Kerry did. Bush floundered for a long time, even agreeing with Kerry, before finally latching onto the missile defence, when he suddenly stopped stumbling and spoke with more assurance.
I hope the cock-up that Bush made about justifying the war ('they attacked us') is used against him. But considering that Fox poll shows the majority still believe Saddam was in cahoots with Al-Qaeda, I guess not.
I thought Kerry did well in showing himself to be strong and decisive. Though he could have done a bit more.
Bush I thought showed himself not so much to be strong but rigid and unable to change his mind. The Dems should really latch onto this point.

I hate to say this since I think Bush would make a better (although far from good) president than Kerry, but I think Kerry did a better job of presenting himself in the debate.

While Bush did make some good points, as the poster above me mentioned, he ummed and had alot of very bad-looking pauses in his speech. Of course, it's no secret that Bush is not a good public speaker.

I believe that this debate will not really change the polling numbers very much, although Kerry did do a good job of speaking (Despite the fact I disagree what what he was saying, he is a much better speaker, although still far from good)

I'd say it ended up about equal, plus and minuses on both sides. Bush was not nearly as polished as Kerry, but presented himself very weel, much improved over 2000. Kerry managed to contradict himself again, unfortunately, but did well, overall seemed to be on defense but made some clear blows on the nuclear issue. Kerry made quite a few mistakes and overall stayed relatively vague; his big problem right now is uncertainty over what his stances are.

In the end, though I think it was about equal in the end, Kerry came out on top. This was suppose to be the big knockout area for Bush, and while he did very well, Kerry clearly survived and did well in the face of an area where he is clearly seen as the weaker candidate. I wouldn't be surprised if the polls tie up again within the next few days.

I think Kerry really surprised a lot of people. He definitely surprised the hell out of me. He did an incredible job, while the president was definitely stretching quite a bit for something to respond with, but didn't quite make good on. I think Kerry was the clear winner.

Although I agreed with Bush more than Kerry, it just seemed that Kerry did a better job at debating. It REALLY doesn't help Bush to stop and flaunder for a few seconds. I mean, if JESUS himself did that, he'd appear stupid, no matter how holy his meanings were.

But hey, didn't Bush flaunder around the last debates too? Between Gore and him, I mean?

Oh, Kerry did a much, much better job. Bush contradicted himself at least twice, stammered a million times, and repeated Kerry's own phrase "wrong war, wrong place, wrong time" for him about ten times. Way to make your opponent's points for him!

I'm as liberal as it gets, and I'm pretty freaking drunk after the political debate drinking game, but I think Kerry won.

The main thing was that Bush stumbled alot, there were a lot of mumblings and lost time. Kerry on the other hand was precise, poignant, and straight to the point. Kerry basically killed his flip-flop stereotype and had a much better conclusion than Bush.

But again, I'm a liberal, so my opinion doesn't really count.

Please tell me that was the SomethingAwful debate drinking game? Because that would be a hell of a debate if it was!

HAHA, unfortunately no.

Me and my roommate took a shot (of beer, liquor would have killed us) everytime either Kerry or Bush said one of the following:

WMDs
Flip-flop
Al-Quaeda
Complex issue
America is safer
Nation building
1.7/1.8 Billion jobs
they do thumb/ fist thingy all politicians do
international coalition
Vietnam
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
Alabama National Guard
administration misled America
$200 billion

We also wished we had added "wrong place, wrong time" but we didn't.

Kerry came out clearly on top. Bush looked tired and not fully informed. Kerry got the better of him repeatedly, turning many of Bush's points against him. Nice job especially in making the point that one can be resolute, and still be wrong, thereby making Bush admit that tactics have to change from time to time.

Oh, and if sighing is as important this time as last time, Bush clearly lost.

I do believe that Kerry won the debate and did come across much stronger than I expected, but we shall see how the polls react to these debates. If Bush performs the same way in the next two, I do believe his lead will evapourate.
