I had my surgery in Cleveland. The University Hospitals of Cleveland, actually. It is an extremely nice little city, with an art museum, nearby Cedar Point, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Even Lake Erie is far cleaned up. I'd love to see how nearby Akron is faring. My city, Rochester, NY, is a tired rust belt town, but Akron is supposed to be a model of revival.

Ah yes, Cedar Point. Best roller coasters in the world. Well biggest at least.

I've been to Ohio. Passed through it. Camped on the shores of Lake Erie. Pretty place but the midwest hasn't got a lot to offer, imo.

Columbus here...not too happy about it...too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter...we get the sampler platter of bad weather here. Nothing too harsh, just lots of annoying weather. The only cool things about Columbus are the hockey team (though even that's in question, lockout and all) and the mayor...

Question about the hockey team. Do they yell "Let's go blue!" at their games. I'd hate to hear that in Columbus.

Southern Ohio. Dayton, actually.

Hello there. :)

USAF family though, so I've been all over the states... mother is from Ohio originally though, and I've lived here for years now. Plan on staying methinks. It's home to me, especially with my family roots here on my mother's side.

Good. That was my biggest beef with naming them the Bluejackets. Glad to see bad taste hasn't crept in (yet).

Yup...I hear mostly "Let's go Jackets!" from the fans...well, the half that root for the home team anyway...when the Penguins or Red Wings are in town, half the fans root for the other team and often drown out the home crowd...

Geographically Columbus is in the south. I'd say the northern suburbs of Columbus are culturally close to the north, and the southern suburbs are culturally closer to the south.

That's why I'm happy that up here in Cleveland we have the Barons. Wasn't sure why our mascot is an aristocratic shark, but then I realized that its becuase we're a farm team for the San Jose? Sharks. I believe.

Gotta love hockey! Its the best way to see Americans beat the crap (literally) out of Canadians and Quebequois!!! No offense to you Canadians and French Canadians. I love you guys, but its just so damn fun to watch... :D
Crossman
01-10-2004, 20:33
And I will admit that yes, they've beat the hell out of our guys too...

But as any respectable Cleveland hockey players would, our entire team jumped onto the ice and got into the fight! Best hockey fight ever!!! The penalty boxed was overflowing!!!

Yeah it is a pretty nice looking stadium. I haven't been inside, but even from outside it looks really nice. Smaller than Jacob's Field here in Cleveland, but a really nice stadium none the less.
