Why must we hate?

I've been thinking lately, all the time on these forums, there are anti-Americans and anti-Europeans. Why? We all have our strong points, but a couple I want to stress is this, Europeans, dont forget America had the first real serious democracy, Greece and Rome werent really what our modern day democracys are like, many of your European democracys were formed off of ours, along with tons of other countrys, thats why we are so famous in the free world. But my fellow Americans, before you go wrapping yourself in a flag, and put on headphones with patriotic music, we have to face facts that with our two-party sytstem we face a great danger, but dont forget (and this goes to everyone) Green-Party, Libertarian party, and a few others and i think in a few years, the two party system will be down, or at least damaged. So what do say guys, it doesnt matter what crew or set were all from, lets just forget our differences and be brothers!

Yeah, I never really thought of it like that, and were all cool in our own ways, lets just stop with the insults and ll that crap.

So what? Are we Europeans supposed to kneel before you, because of that fact? The USA had some moments of glory I am very glad about, but that doesn't give you some kind of diplomatic immunity.

Yes, I am going to abandon my guns (figuritive term here) because Dr. Afkrutski of the INTERN ET here says that I should be nice and happy and just take it when someone feels the need to say something stupid? And should everyone elsse then keep their mouths shut and roll over should I make a statement they disagree with?
NEVER!!
Keep to the battlements chaps, the game is far from over.

Explain the "diplomatic immunity" you are referring to.

I think some Americans get pissed because the U.S. doesn't tell European countries how to run their business, but European countries do that with us. I haven't seen a single word out of any presidential administration (Republican or Democrat) telling the EU what it should and should not do. Yet, some European countries feel compelled to interject their opinions into our national discussions...usually through the UN.

I also think that a few European nations (who shall remain nameless) are jealous at the power the US holds (whether you think it is justified or not) and have taken the EU where it is today in an effort to equal (or, really, one-up) the US. However, the United States just simply doesn't care. We don't feel threatened by Europe as a collection of independent nations, nor do we feel threatened by a United Europe. Do what you want....we want to run our country our way without interference, and we want you to run your countries or your EU the way you want without interference.

The US and most of Europe have been through a lot together over the past 100 years. Its sad to see the insecurity of a couple of nations plant the seeds of division between what had been a strong pact of allies.

Noble sentiments indeed! I only wish everyone felt the same way. I originally came on this board to discuss NationStates and how to best build my "nation." But the very first post I saw was a diatribe against the US. My reaction may not have been so negative, but the person who started the thread was an American who seemed to be talking about an entirely different Country than the one I had served for many years.

And not to leave Europeans ( and Canadians! ) out, many of the posts I have seen on here from citizens of other countries seem to be talking about a different USA as well. Not only that, but I get the distinct impression that many of them are just anti-anything-US.

I don't know what the answer is to all of this, but I have a rank-ordering of priorities established over the years which guide my actions and words: family first, then Nation, then everything else. I would alter my priorities if I truly believed that my Country was evil or oppressive or some of the other highly negative things I see it called on here by relatively intelligent people who I think should know better. Yes, I see problems with my Country, as with any country, but I also see many, many positive things as well.

So what do I do? I really would like to know.

People hate because it requires little effort to maintain the hate.

Why must we hate?

It's because human beings are supposed to hate each other. Nature never intended for us to make global peace.

I have no scientific data to back this up, but I suspect that hate ( like frowning ) takes more effort than being kind ( like smiling ). There have been studies which show that frowning really does take more muscles than does smiling, thus more energy.

You're an idiot who doesn't know a damn thing about ancient history.

Wow! What a great refutation! You really told HIM, huh? Sigh.

Let me remind you of the ultimatum YOU gave the world:

WTF?

People as groups are snobby and selfish, while as individuals arent.

Europe tries to force its policy on the US, while the US sucessfully forces its policy on the rest of the world.

Im not saying i dislike Americans, as people Americans arent actually different from rest of the world at all, thye have a reputation for being good and accepting people. As a nation America is less than its components however.

that said Afrutski, while your sentiment is a good one, your intellect and patience seem to be less so.

I agree. This site was made to make your own nation and sort of escape the real world. Yet instead of arguing about our NS nations we still go on about our RL nations. I haven't seen any hate threads towrds Crossman, The Federal Union, or Communist Mississippi, etc. Always hate America or hate Bush or hate Kerry.
