Well Kerry blew it. He didn't get any bounce after the Convention and Bush has rose in the polls. Or is it that you think Kerry will get his ass kicked?

I will be glued to the TV, recording on the Tevo so I can pull quotes later and copy the footage to my PC, several notepads in hand, plenty of pencils, popcorn, whiskey, and my entire family there with me.

Ummm ... what world are you in? I didn't realize the elections had already happened!

Kerry hasn't blown anything ... he's barely begun to fight.

You'll also notice that Bush is actually dropping in the polls. Pay attention. The election isn't over until the Senate canvasses the vote .... IN JANUARY!

Peoples' ignorance is so obnoxious. Get some money ... clues are cheap.

Kerry: <several sentences about his plans> *nothing*
Bush: Flip-flopper! *loud applause*
Kerry: <long, detailed retort>
Bush: Self-inflicted wouns! *loud applause*
Kerry: Yeah well you didn't even serve in the Air national guard!
Bush: Dan Rather is a loster!

No...Bush has a 3 pt max lead in the polls, which is nothing when you factor in that most of the battleground states lean Kerry/are undecided.

Hey, I want Kerry to win too but after what happened in Canada's Federal Election, I'm not sure anymore. The Liberals and Conservatives were in a virtual tie, according to polls and what not but the Liberals ended up winning by a fairly large margin.

I'm going to watch so long as nothing comes up. I'd like to see how both sides finally confront one another's ideas for America.

Oh geez, sorry about that, I was reading something and only half paying attention to what I was typing. Of course Kerry will win, he actually cares about people.

No... I'd rather read about it afterwards. And watch the commentary on the Daily Show.

And I refuse to Tivo something like that. I've already made up my mind, so I just want the general gist of it.

Well, that being said, only about 1 in 10 people surveyed actually answer the polster's questions. Given that kind of participation, it seems difficult to gauge the real intentions of the voters with any kind of precision. It may just be the fact that I'm usually surrounded by lower-class people and/or students, but here in Nevada the state is officially tilted slightly towards Bush, but I myself have never heard as many bus riders or college students as vocal and as pissed off against any political figure as they are at Bush right now.

That being said, I think that Bush probably will win the election one way or another. This will be followed by a collapse of the economy and a massive series of war on several fronts. The upshot of all this is that people will finally be shaken out of their conservative dogmatism. The downside is that the Pax Americana might well be irrevocably sundered by the time they do.

Maybe. If my parents watch I will. I have my mind made up, but I don't even get to vote anyway, so I don't really NEED to see the debates, but it might be fun.

I'd really rather not, because I know I'm just going to start screaming at the television and flipping it off uncontrollably when Bush starts lying and no one calls him on it. If it gets really bad, I'll wind up mooning the tv, and then it just gets ugly.

And Kerry doesn't do much for me either. It's not like he was my first choice, or even my fourth, but he's the guy and he's got my vote.

The only reason I can give for watching the debate would be to be able to honestly combat the spin that's going to come out of them, and honestly, I'm just tired of it all. Bush will be declared the winner if he manages not to soil himself on national tv, and everyone knows it, but if I wind up watching them, that'll be why.

To these people who have apparantly already made up their mind, are you not watching the debates because you fear that they might change your mind? I'm not watching because I have to work (damnit), but I expect to see a link to a transcript on this forum.

You expressed my feelings exactly. I felt the same way about the Gore/Bush debates.

I think all those people(the majority) who voted for Gore and had their votes stolen (me) will vote for Kerry this time.

I figure that for Kerry to win, the debates don't matter, the ads don't matter, the media doesn't matter. For Kerry to win he's got to do two things--he's got to get out the vote, and he's got to make sure there's no voter fraud. He does that and he's golden.

I for one do not like the debates. For one they have been regulated and scripted down to the point of being a poorly acted farce. Very little actual policy is discussed anymore. It more just switches off between the two candidates either spouting feel good platitudes or attacking the character of the other. I prefer to base my vote off of actual fact and not let things like these obscure the issues.

i was going to watch the debate, but then i saw that the Boston Globe had already put a news story on their website that described exactly how the debate WENT. they talked about how the candidates covered Florida's hurricane-fest, and how "[t]he debate's focus on Iraq was sharpened by bombings in Baghdad Thursday that killed three dozen children."

they caught the mistake, though, and the article is no longer there. i think the media has finally begun to realize that their already-blatant manufacturing of the news will be even more impossible to deny if they start releasing news stories on events that have yet to occur.

I'm going to watch it while studying for tests tomorrow :p hopefully I don't get stuff mixed up and wind up writing stuff about Kerry and Bush on my Chem, Physics and Italian tests tomorrow... (yes I have 3 tests tomorrow)

Haha yeah I'll watch it if nothing comes up, I don't think anything will though.

Would you believe I only have ONE channel airing it? A Canadian channel at that... (CBCNEWSSOMETHING)

Yes, although I'm confident that it'll only reduce my confidence in the presidential candidates. If anything, it'll be as good or better than Comedy Central.
