College Kids, what NCAA conference?

So, what NCAA conference does your school fall under? (Poll to come.) I probably don't have enough choices for all the conferences...but yea..

If you've graduated, choose the conference of your alumni school...and post what college.

I'm currently attending the University of Arkansas in the SEC. Razorbacks are 3-1 and (1-0) in conference play. The one loss is a 22-20 loss to 7th ranked Texas.

Just graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Big Ten). As we have for the last few years, we once again suck ass at football with a record of 2-2, with wins over Florida A&M and Western Michigan. My high school could've beat both of them too.

I'm waiting for basketball season to start - we were awesome last year (lost to Duke in the Sweet 16) and only lost 1 player who sat the bench a lot.

Nice. Yea, Arkansas has 3 really big Freshman on the basketball team and apparantly we just signed a guy who will be a Freshman guard next spring. Hopefully it'll be looking good for Arkansas in a couple years. It's good to see that Arkansas is holding its own in SEC football however. The only returning offensive starter is Matt Jones, who is really, really close to breaking the all-time SEC record for rushing yards by a Quarterback.

I just noticed that UTenn voted. I wonder if he remembers that time that the Vols came over to Fayetteville...and lost...28-24. That was a great year. The south goal post got torn down and took a trip down Dickson street.

I don't really know if we even compete on a national level. I go to a tiny private college (Illinois College).

Yay Big XII!!! Go University of Oklahoma, which completely owns everyone (except usc, but they're going down soon anyway).

Any sports teams? If you've got a sports team, you're in 1-AA. However, if Illinois College has none (and being a private school, it wouldn't surprise me), you don't really have a conference.

Where's Hockey East?
Opal Isle
29-09-2004, 21:41
There is no 1-A division called "Hockey East"

There aren't any 1-AA divisions called "Hockey East"

I do believe you're quite confused.

What's Division III?...

That's the division that really small or really shitty schools play. Basically, small regional schools, or schools that don't really have what anyone would call a real sports program.

No, you're just too narrow minded to understand that there are more NCAA sports than football and basketball.

Are you telling me there is a "Hockey East" division in 1-A schools? 1-A applies to football, and therefore, there is no Hockey East division. I don't know anything about hockey, but I do know it's football season...and you can go to college in Canada.

By the way, I think CBS is playing 3 SEC games this Saturday.

Arkansas Razorbacks at Florida Gators 12:00 EST
LSU Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs 3:30 EST
Auburn Tigers at Tennessee Volunteers 7:45 EST

I think all of those games are on CBS, but I'm not positive. They should be. Three great SEC games, six quality SEC football programs.

Although, since you're Hockey EAST, I'm going to assume that you're either ACC or Big East

Your original quote:

You made absolutely no mention about what 1-A conference our schools were in. You asked what conference our schools were in, and I responded.

And you're right, it is football season, and that's why I'm going to watch my New England Patriots crush the rest of the NFL in the important football season.

And the college hockey season starts next week.

And you would assume wrong. Our football team is 1-AA. Atlantic 10.

edit: Not Division III like I thought....

Oh. If you were 1-A, you'd be one of those two however. What college?

And when I ask what division you are...and list all the 1-A divisions, plus 1-AA as an option, shouldn't you assume that I'm talking about football?

Fortunately, I don't have to decide; I have to go to work.

So, what non-BCS conference team has the best chance of getting a major bowl bid?

I'm not even sure what the non-BCS conferences are. I know the SEC is a BCS conference.

ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big XII, Pac-10, SEC, and Notre Dame. I think.

Well, they're Independent. But when people talk about the BCS teams, it's those conferences plus Notre Dame.

Heehee. I have nothing against USC, it's not a school I hate, unlike UT or K-state. But your loss is our gain :D

I was in the SEC as a grad student--University of Arkansas--but I'm now in the Pac-10 at Stanford. My undergraduate university just restarted their football program, and they're now a 1-AA independent school. I believe they'll be joining the Southland Conference in the next couple of years.

And of those three, which was the most exciting Incertonia (I believe you were here for that big Tennessee game in Fayetteville, as well as the a Cotton Bowl maybe?)

Two Cotton Bowls actually. I wasn't at the Tennessee game, but I heard it, because at the time I lived about half a mile from the stadium. I saw the goalposts duct-taped to the side of the Ozark Brewhouse later that evening.

The biggest game I went to while I was there was an Alabama game. I stood in the rain in the north endzone and watched the Hogs pull it out at the end of the game.
