My instinct is to go with larg breasted man, though setient fungus would have to be my second choice. Maybe a setient fungus that looks like a large breasted man? :D

I claim to be a White Libertarian Atheist Gun Owner with no compassion for my fellow man, a Machiavellian outlook on life, a cynical attitude, and a passion for satire and sarcasm. I am also in my twenties and a waiter/starving writer who is currently making posts in between throwing up my guts.
I suppose some people would even see that as a kind of sentient fungus.

There people go, bad-mouthing Machiavelli again.
By a Machiavellian outlook, do you mean you are a humorous, humane, learned exponent of democracy who maybe has a slightly misogynistic outlook but who was basically a nice guy considering he had spent so long as Florentine ambassador on difficult diplomatic missions and then fallen foul of religious intolerance and a dictatorship you basically disagreed with but needed to placate in order to get a job?
I didn't think so.

Mainly because I saw this thread (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=361315) and I became curious to know if anyone really believed me, or if there was someone out there who was convinced my real name was Sunshine Flower and that I lived at my hemp farm making flower power shirts with peace signs on them in between sitting in the middle of a field, butt naked, singing and flying into a murderous rage at the mention of the name "George Bush." However, my intial inclinitation, which was semi-serious, was overtaken by a sudden impulse of humor and I took a poll with about four serious options (ranging from: "No way, you lying bastard!" to "Of course, you'd never tell a lie) and changed to this wonderful brain child that you see now, with options such as Wiccan, Fundie, and Redneck.

Also, I felt that dear old General needed something in it that had nothing to do with either Bush, Kerry, abortion, or those godawful repetitive "Ask An Unorginal Nerd" threads.

Wow, I never knew I was honestly capable of tarnishing someone's reputation with only a word or two. Such powers as I now hold begats great self-confidence in mine own talents.

By a Machiavellian outlook, do you mean you are
Maybe I do, I'll go down your list item by item.
humorous,
I find myself to be quite humorous, though others have occasion to disagree.
humane
Feh, my use with humanity goes as far as not actively stabbing anyone in the back.
learned
I'd say that I have that, but again, others may disagree from time to time.
exponent of democracy
Basically, I guess I fit here. I mean, I don't particularly like the idea of dictatorships, artistocracies, technocracies, monarchies, facism, socialism, or communism.
who maybe has a slightly misogynistic outlook
I go a bit farther than slightly.
but who was basically a nice guy
OK, so I don't fit your definition very much.
considering he had spent so long as Florentine ambassador on difficult diplomatic missions and then fallen foul of religious intolerance
I've never had the opportunity to do any of those.
and a dictatorship you basically disagreed with but needed to placate in order to get a job?
Never had the opportunity here either, but I have had to placate my bosses to keep my job.

I didn't think so.
Well, neither did I. I had no intent to offend, I meant "Machiavellian" as in agreeing with The Prince most of the time. Which, I assume, is what most people mean when they say "Machiavellian" (hopefully we, as humans, have matured beyond that whole devil connotation that the Church appended to the poor bastard).

I'm not really offended Hajek. I just really ended up liking Machiavelli when I studied him. I suppose I was trying to be a bit facetious and clever; I know what 'Machiavellian' has come to mean - I just think he doesn't really deserves it. His letters to his friends are very different - you get a real feel for the man behind the words, and he seems a much more human and humane character than his reputation. He wrote a comedy play called The Mandrake Root that was actually his most popular work during his lifetime (The Prince wasn't published until after his death).

'The Prince' is a job application to Lorenzo de Medici, and Machiavelli says what he thinks will get him his old job back (ie foreign affairs spokesman for Florence). His real personal political philosophy comes in 'The Discourses on Livy'. He was a confirmed supporter of republics (which was as close as his world came to democracy). He got a bad reputation for being quoted in Chapter 26 [IIRC] of The Prince that 'the end justifies the means', but he really said 'si garda al fine' - one must consider the end. In other words, you can't judge political decisions only by moral absolutes, you also have to consider what the end result was. It's a bit more nuanced, but nuance doesn't sell as many papers, either today or in the 16th century.

You sound just fine to me. And probably not a sentient fungus, but on NS, who can tell?

It seems that, for years, I have been a sentient fungus. Wow, apparently I wasn't a self-sentient fungus, as I had no idea. I wonder how I'm typing this now?
Ah well, this will have to go into my "Things I Learned on the Internet" file, right beside the disscovery that John Kerry is the anti-christ and that George Bush rules the world.

If ye'd be so kind. I rather think I'd like it over there, as I bet that's where all the cool people are.
