Why do you say "eh" all the time?
Kryozerkia
29-09-2004, 05:43
It sounds more intelligent than "huh". ;)
Then why does "Eh?" sound more like an old man straining to hear. While "huh?" sounds more like a stoned teen in a classroom.
Kryozerkia
29-09-2004, 05:47
Because it confuses the hell out of people.
Consider...
Person1: I'm going to the AAA meeting.
Person2: AAA eh?
Person1: Yeah, AAA eh, eh!
etc...
it has potential to start very amusing conversations.

Cambell is just a drunken moron. But then again, at least he isn't a spineless patsy like Dalton McQuinty - damn provincial Liberals, just as corrupt and worthless as the federal Liberals!
And the lack of hockey sucks, though I can't say I'll be missing Don Cherry.

I cheer for all Canadian hockey teams except the Ottawa Sentors - they can basically go jump off a cliff. I'm a major Toronto Maple Leafs fan, but I always cheer for the Canucks, Flames, Oilers and the Habs.

I have a question for Canadians:
Could you explain to me in detail how your school systems work? They seem similar to America's schools in structure, but I'm sure there's a lot of differences.

I'm from Ontario, so I can only talk to the one here.
Now, we have a standard structure, kindergarten to grade 12. We used to have grade 13 (OAC), but former provincial premier Mike Harris decided we didn't need it any more.
We have a lot of standardized testing, and the text books used are the same all across the province for each grade, so, if you transfer schools in the province, you are likely going to be at the same spot in the same text.
Anyway, colleges and universities are different. Our universities are very challenging and hard to get a scholarship from. Getting in is fairly challenging compared to getting into college.
College here is a place for a practical education, good for people wanting skills that will get them a job in a short period of time; university is more for an academic education, best for people going into fields such as medicine, law and teaching.
From high school, you can get into euither, but university is an academic level about college.

There is no progressive vision for the future in out country. The liberals only care about following teh polls long enough to stay in power and line their pockets, they've lost the true soul of the original party under Laurier and later under King.
All the other parties are too fragmented, petty or scary to form a truly effective opposition.

That easy, Molson, it's the only large beer marker in Canada that isn't own by a larger company over sea. (e.g. La batt blue is owned by a european company).

Because "Canada" means village in (I can't quite recall the exact tribe) aboriginal. It's part of our history.
I do find it ironic that you hate the Liberals and love the Toronto maple leafs.
reason being of course.. hehe. The Toronto "make believes" haven't won a cup since 1967 and it's going to be just as long if not longer before a federal conservative government ever wins in Canada. :P

Edmonton was the last team from Canada to win the Stanley Cup in '91, although Vancouver was in the finals in '94 and Calgary in '04. I'm a huge Oilers fan anyway and I love having that leverage. Oh wait, dammit it was those blasted Canadians in '93.
