Stuff like this reminds me of why we should fully adopt Singapore's lawbook as our own and throw out these stupid "police brutality" laws as well. If one is stupid enough to do something like this, then one deserves to be smacked in the head with a baton, tazed, and then bamboo whipped.
Vandalism and other minor crimes...Shall we keep forginving the vandals cos the Jails are overcrowded?
Any comments?

Oh I don't know.

I wouldn't mind seeing the little bastards in my neighborhood with the motorized scooters get caned!

Well, for one, it's rattan, not bamboo.

But other than that nit pick, it just might work as a deterent to juvenile crime, I don't know.
Singapore is certainly a very clean city. I think however it's a gross imposition of the government in the people's lives.

People it's stupid to quote the constitution and stuff (or mention it). We are talking about whether in YOUR personal opinion whether it's good, not whether or not you think it will be adopted into our legal system.

I think it's good personally... don't do the crime if you aren't willing to face the consequences.

I mean honestly, why on earth would you be afraid of a system with very strict punishments for lawbreakers if you are a law-abiding citizen?

That's the wierd paradox. I felt completely safe walking around it at all hours.

I even saw a purse snatching and a 40+ year old woman tackle the guy and then she and another guy run after the snatcher when he got loose. They picked up 3 other guys who helped them corner the guy.

What are the chances of that happening in a city in the US?

Now the police arrived and they really worked the guy over.

We need more preventative punishment in our societies. Perhaps more televised executions or, in this case, beatings.
