Is either Bush or Kerry in touch with "the common man"?

Do you think that either US presidential candidate relates to the concerns of the ordinary Americans?
I don't, it seems to be all about corporations in the American plutocracy.

They're both "hothouse plants" who have NO idea what most of us have to struggle with.

The shrub is a silver spoon. Cutting trees on your rather large ranch hardly puts you in touch with the common man. Probably the most stressful thing he ever had was wondering if daddy would set him up with another company....
Now Lurch? Didn't he start out as a common man? If he did, he has probably flushed those memories from his brain.
So I say no on both.....

Yes, I'm sure both of them relate so well to the working-class American. They both grew up privileged and went to Ivy League universities. One has rich parents and one has rich in-laws that supported them financially. They even have seen poverty with their own eyes. They go to poor inner city schools and read to at-risk kids. Clearly that has put them in touch with working-class America.
Kerry: I'm an enlightened and educated pro-government war hero (read: arrogant snobbish idealist) who knows what's best for the country.
Bush: I'm a regular Joe American(read: liar) compassionate Christian conservative (read: enforcer of my religion's values on other people) who knows what's best for this country.
No, and I have never met a national level (or for that matter state level) politician that is.

Shrub? Ol' Longface? In touch with the common man?
Hahahahahahahahaha!
I didn't even know there was any question about that one.

There isn't, but it makes an amusing question, don't you think? YOU laughed at it! ; )))

I think Kerry is more in touch with them because of how he grew up. At least he wasn't born into wealth so he knews what it's like to not be rich.

Oh, I got. I just thought it was funny because there are people who get worked up over those two clods. Not worth arguing over either one of the bums, really. Folks can shine them up all they want and they'll have a couple of polished turds at the end of the day.
It's kind of like arguing over whether "The Phantom Menace" or "Attack of the Clones" sucked more.

Or maybe arguing over which colour is better: gray or dun?

Gray, by God, and if you don't like it, you can go straight to hell! :D
Yep. Kinda silly, isn't it?

Neither has a clue.
But a first-term president will be forced to at least try.

Thanks! What we ought to be hopping mad about in this country is the fact that Shrub and Ol' Longface are our two choices in this election. Certainly, this nation can produce better than that.

Where did you get this info? Kerry was born into a family that included the Forbes. He was born with a silver spoon as well. His parents even went for cruises in JFK's boat and brought little lurch along. Both candidates have no clue what a normal person does or goes through on a daily basis. If you think Bush or Kerry would be able to help you at work fixing that diesel engine, then I am afraid that you are a moron.
They're both virtual aristocrats. No government official can truly be in touch with the people.

Nope, neither of them are. I don't really think you can expect any more than 1 in 1000 high level politicians to be at all in touch with the "common man".
I don't think either of them are. Then again I don't think it's very important that politcians actually know how the common man feels. I think it's important that they understand what problems they face, but not to know how they feel....
