...one of the greatest insults ever - "You people!"
No matter who you say it to, they will find some way to be offended by it.
Whenever I want to piss someone off, I say "Well, you know what you people are like!" or "You know what the problem with you people is?" :p
Try it out - whoever you say it to will find some way to find it personally offensive ;)

It seems OK to say "My people..", but you've definately got something there about "Your people.."
People, especially "leftists" (aka "your people" if you take offense to "your people"), absolutely HATE IT when anyone "puts words in their mouths".
And of course, that's the essence of saying "your people",.. to group someone in with some group that they would rather not be associated with, and that they think doesn't represent them.
Although,... how can that be..!?
Why would a leftist (or a rightist for that matter) take offense at being called a leftist (or rightist)..?
Hmmmmm....
And of course, how does this apply to racial groups..?
..ugh,... more whacky sociological conundra..!
:D

1. No one likes to be lumped into a group with whom they share only one thing in common and be told that they are alike in every way.
2. It's a linguistic construct meant to imply contempt. For those of you who speak Spanish, its the equivalent of saying 'la mujer ese' instead of 'ese mujer'.
Put them both together, and there's your answer. They are offended because you intend to offend when constructing your sentence that way (see #2) and will take exception to the statement on the grounds of #1.

Ah yes, but to which facet of someone am I alluding when I say "you people"? Do I mean your sexuality, your race, your religion, your occupation, your taste in music, what car you drive, your weight, etc etc.
Like I said, the funny part is that most people will instantly assume your are referring to something that they think is the most offensive. It's a great, generic insult. :p
