RAM Question
I need to know exactly what kindo of RAM my computer is running on so I can upgrade it. I'm currently running at 128 MB. :( I've tried opening up the case, remonving the memory and looking at the sticker on it, but it proved to be a useless excersize. My system information screen tells me nothing. My computer is probably custom built. I say probably because there used to be a Compaq where my current computer is, and I still have the Compaq monitor, speakers, and keyboard. Please help me! I'm sick of Jedi Academy crashing on me because of my pitiful memory. :(

The Mhz? Should be on the bootup screen or in the BIOS options...should be something like...hold on...I'll reboot and edit.
Yeah...Memory Frequency XXX Mhz...is that what you need?
What I need is to know what kind of slot I stick my memory into. I think it's some kind of DDR RAM, but I need to know more than that.

What's the CPU on your comp? it's it's a P4, higher than 2.0 GHZ it's most likely DDR ram. otherwise, it's SD or something like that.
Edit: Ok take out your stick now and take it to a shop and say "i need some mroe of this". They'll know what it is! :)

You could count the pins....
Just bring it to a place that sells memory. They'll recognize it.

Well why would you be running Jedi Acdemy on a system with no memory? 512 is about the minum.

'Cause it's a good game. (Go Dark Side!) Besides, the minimum RAM for it is 128. I need more RAM because sometimes when I load a saved game it quits out on me, saying it failed to allocate 132864 bytes. And this happens a lot. Seriously, I suck at that game.

How much can your system upgrade to?

If you still have the user information booklet that came with your motherboard, it will tell you what kind of RAM you will need.
If its a newer system, its going to be DDR memory, and most likley pc2700 400 mghtz or higher.
Either way, unless your motherboard is older, and has both SIMM and DIMM slots, it will only use DIMM slots.
(Dual Inline Memory Modules)
There are diagnostic programs that will tell you every detail about your system, and can probably be found for free on the net.
If you can tell me what kind of Motherboard you have, and the type and mghtz of your processor, I can help you further.
