Checking the forums until my power goes out.

Jeanne is in the state and heading towards my house. I am so done with hurricanes! This makes number four and I'm ready for this season to be over.

I guess that's the price I pay for living in Florida.

It really is amazing!! The power of nature is truly awesome.

Small hurricanes are fun. Especially when one throws a Hurricane Party and every gets intoxicated and has a good time.

This one could be like that if it wasn't the 4th one in 1 1/2 months. We are all just tired of it.

But I choose to stay here. That to me the weird part. :) The things that we men do for the Love of a good woman.

Hope all goes well for you there in Florida.
I was part of the million-plus who evacuated southeast Louisiana out of fear that Hurricane Ivan was going to put 20 feet of water in our region (we were truly lucky).

Btw -- Everyone that is able should make a donation to The American Red Cross for disaster relief. Also there are two great websites that I have been using to follow and report the aftermath of such storms --

http://sun-sentinel.com/news/weather/hurricane

Produced by the Sun-Sentinel newspaper out of Ft.Lauderdale, they use the great weather info and graphics generated by The Weather Underground; while providing very solid reporting and excellent tips on storm-proofing your residence or business.

http://pensacolanewsjournal.com

Read how Pensacola, Florida and nearby environs begin to recover from clearly what was their region's worst hurricane (and second only to Hurricane Camille in 1969 in intensity in the Gulf-South region of the USA).

I have yet to remove my boards just over a week after Ivan (#1 -- Ivan junior just struck southwest Louisiana Thursday September 23 as a tropical storm status).

Good luck and thanks for starting this thread

I'm on the west coast of Florida as well. When I went to sleep at 3 am it was going slightly north of me -- now it is headed directly towards me. Ug! This hurricane made landfall with 120 mph winds and is coming across the state at about 100 mph. (I'll leave the m/k conversion to you.) Just a matter of time before the power goes out!

100 miles is about 160km (rough). The strongest recorded here during the last storm was 178km at the top of a nearby mountain (about 450m high) but where houses are it never got past 150km, and that was on the south coast which was where the storm was hitting.

*in full sympathy, and Joking: Don't vote for the wrong candidate next time.*

I hope you all come out of this fourth(?) hurricane OK. They are bitches.

Been through ONE myself, and don't want to repeat the experience.
