Let me break some things down for you.
You earn PP (Prestigious Points) by debating, press releases, and editorials. The higher your PP the more influence your decisions make. Also, the higher the PP the better chance you have to win elections for Senator, Governor, or President. But you can still have a guy with low PP pull an upset like Dean almost did this year in the DNC primaries.
Now, elections are done on a calculator the Admins have. It factors in your PP, endorsements, campaign strategy, advertisements, etc. The GOP won by a land slide in the elections last month cause well, the DNC did jack shit for their campaign. You'll actually get to see how many people voted for you. The Presidential elections is done by Electoral Votes, just incase anyone is curious.
Now, everyone that signs in starts as a Rep in the House of Reps. After roll call in November, depending if we have enough members (Which we should) we will be able to hold elections for Governors and Senators.
You have Committees incase you're wondering. Right now they are:
Appropriations and Finance
Education and the Workforce
Energy and Commerce
International Relations and Armed Services
Judiciary and Government Affairs
Special Committee on Terrorism
Rules and Ethics
Ok, on Rules and Ethics I have to explain something to you. The Admins don't ban anyone at all. Unless you're caught cloning (Multiple Accounts). Now, for motions of censure, you have to have it passed through that committee then on the House Floor. If passed both, you'll then feel the wrath of the admin. Also, you also can push Amendments to the SIM Rules, creation of new committees, things of that nature in Rules and Ethics.
Now, like in real government, Legislation is submitted to the appropriate Committee and if passed, the Legislation gets forwarded to the House Floor. If passed in the House Floor, it goes to the White House where the President can sign it or veto it. If vetoed, we have a chance to override but you'll need 2/3s of the House to vote for it.
The SIM is extremely active also. The DNC has 101 members and the GOP has 95 members I believe. The Libertarians and Independents are each 20 members large.
Right now, the House majority coalition is the DNC and the LNC. We, the GOP, hope to change that come November in roll call. We already basically control the floor.
Let me break down the parties for you real quick.
The GOP right now has a huge tent. From moderates to the extreme right. We had to open our tent because after the roll call in July, we were outnumbered by the DNC by over thirty (30) members. So if you're a moderate to the extreme right (Not that we extreme rights come to think of it) you'd fit in fine.
The DNC is...odd. You have progressives, socialists, and...Hippies. If you show any conservatism you're basically shunned. They also elected had a Communist for Speaker of the House. Go figure. But hey, I got appointed to Clerk a position which earns me substantial PP for doing nothing :)
LNCers, your platform is extremely sacrificed due to the party caucusing with the DNC. You're probably better off in the GOP and probably would be happier there as well. The LNC used to be larger, but many have flocked to the GOP.
IUCers, the Independents/Unaffiliated are basically a haven for the extreme left at the moment (Communists/Socialists). That's it for them.
Now remember, you can create new parties but you'll need 15% of members who responded to the most recent roll call to actually join. After November, creating parties will need 15% of around 240.
Anyways, anyone interested? Please post which party you would join in your post also. Whether it's DNC, RNC, LNC (Libertarians), or IUC (Independent/Unaffiliated).
