An amazing thing I just learned

Two sophomores at my school have been going out for four years - that's since the beginning of their sixth grade. After "Holy crap that is a fucking long time," which better summarizes your reaction?

a) "They're due for a breakup anytime now."
b) "If they've been together that long they're probably in for a lot longer."

I know many of you will want to answer c) "With that number there's no telling," but I'm not going to give you that option because I'm looking for polarized answers.

So?

My reaction is "wow, that guy is wasting all his money on a girl this early in his life when he should be spending it on VIDEO GAMES!"

 And how old are you, 11? Who ever said money had anything to do with it? Why do you assume all guys like video games? Where's the "waste" part? *explodes*

*recoalesces* And as long as we're on the topic, how do you know I'm not talking about a pair of lesbians? There's NO GUY there.

Well, it could be considered a waste of money because girls spend lots and buy crap (no offense), and also, video games are good for your mental abilities.

Right. And even if that weren't an extremely inaccurate and stereotypical generalization, why in the hell would a boyfriend be the source of her money?

Not the source, just a source. ;)

It depends.

If they're lesbians, I say they'll stay together, because I'm warm and optomistic

If they're het, I say they'll break up, because I'm cold and cynical :D.

Actually, after the "holy crap, that's a long time" I didn't debate their future so much as wonder how they manage day-to-day. Staying together during such a turbulent and expressive period of their lives...Amazing if it works well.

I kinda hope I meet people like that; I'd like to see how long-term relationships work at that young age. Are they happy? Are they passionate, or casual? What do they see in each other, or is it just convenience?

A thousand questions. But not "I wonder if/when they'll break up"

My god, you're all idiots... well, most of you. No, they're heterosexual. I was just trying to make a point to the first idiot.

*sigh* I don't know how they "manage day-to-day". I don't know the guy very well and I don't know the girl at all. I can tell you that they are mildly affectionate in public but they're way past the make-out-anywhere-and-everywhere stage of many new couples.

Oh, well, in that case then I'll be rooting for "stay together"

Damn kids in their new couples with the making of out and their skimpy appareal...

I'd say they'll stay together until college. If they go to different colleges that have distance between them, then...I figure they'll break up. *shrug*

Well you said "THERE'S NO GUYS THERE". So who's the idiot? :)

... in allusion to the presupposition of my post that they were a lesbian couple. Note that I preceded that supposition with "How do you know this isn't so" and therefore wasn't stating it as fact.
