So I'm riding the bus home from school after an already 5hitty day - and out of nowhere some stupid underclassman shouts out "She's an atheist!" with a rather negative tone of voice.

While I disagree with some aspects of atheism, OPEN YOUR MIND! I am friends w/ppl who ARE atheists and are they "evil"? Far from evil, IMO

You're right, some people are stupid. You should ask God whether he thinks atheists are evil; last I checked, the Bible says EVERYONE'S evil.

On the one hand I think your in the United States, cos where else (in the west) but the U.s would anybody really care if your an atheist.

I think I shall use the term henceforth to refer to those junior to me at work. And in turn, they may address me as an upperclassman. It has a certain ring to it.

FYI, I'm an athiest, and I liked it when people called me evil. It meant they were afraid of me and would leave me alone. And thats all I ever wanted in High School anyway. People thing being the little guy sucks, try being the BIG guy, everyone in the school wants to prove how tough they are and stand up to you for no reason.

Needless to say I got in a few fights when I was in school, and I hate to fight. The only thing worse was my mom. I'd come home after being in a fight, and she would say "did you kick his ass" and if I didnt say yes, she would kick my ass!

Umm.... ever been an athiest in Spain, it's even worse sometimes, maybe you just don't travel around the Western world that much.

By saying that all people who have opinions against athheists are idiots you are showing a markedly intollerant attitude yourself.

It is bad being a athist in Spain, but then I guess being a atheist in Texas must be bad as well. However being a athist in the British primary school systerm is worse, I rember being yelled at for not sying in assembaly, I wasn't singing, because I didn't balive 'God is so great'. I really hated those assembaly. You had to listen to tapes of the bible and things. I reacon the ought to get rid of them. (Compulsary assembalys like that)

I think out of my circle of maybe 20 or so close friends, only 2 are actually religious. I dunno, I grew up in Hawaii where people are just generally more tolerant.

I wonder what percentage of people in America will be religious 50 years from now.

if current trends continue at the rates being recorded now, the percentage of Americans who believe in a personal, monotheistic religion will be under 50% within the next 60 years. if you add in persons who believe in "spirituality" or more non-specific religious beliefs, you will still have less than 60% of the population believing in any form of God or gods. again, this is IF CURRENT TRENDS CONTINUE, and there is no way for us to know if they will continue.

yeah, people were predicting the end of religion back in the 1800s...didn't happen. I guess most people just find religion when they get old.

I live in Britain, and I've never heard the phrase used, or even mentioned. It sounds American to me.

Before you start the flame war, just know that the Bible defines "antichrist" as anyone who denouces the Son and/or the Father. The title was merely to get your attention (people seem to be attracted to the word 'Jew'), because atheists and Muslims and anyone who does not believe in Jesus as the Christ.

Here's a few scriptures straight from the Bible, if you don't believe me then go look it up yourself.

1 John 2:18-23:
"18Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. This goes to prove that there is no, nor ever will be any one great "Antichrist: Herald of the Apocolypse," but all people who denouce Jesus as the Christ are anticrists, this includes Atheists!
