Who are the best? Nationally or locally.
I'd say it goes to Chicago White Sox TV announcers Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Darren "DJ" Jackson.
They are easily the best announcers that any team can have.
Hawk is known for his phrases, or Hawkisms as they are called in Chicago. His HR call is the most famous among a local announcer in the nation.
No baseball fan is unfamiliar with "Way back! He looks up! YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD YYYYYEESSSSSS!!!!"
And you also have his "Come on, get up stretch!" before his home run call if it is close. No Sox fan can watch baseball without that call and every year the announcers for the HR derby try and replicate, usually unsuccessfully though.
He also has "HE GAWN!" for strike outs, "duck snort" "ducks on the pond" "grab some bench" among others.
In a close game Hawk and DJ are the two announcers you want to hear. No announcers have their enthusiasm and love for the team. Sox fans will never forget Hawks "COME ON TIMO! COME ON TIMO! COME ON TIMO!" call during the bottom of the 9th against the Toons at USCF.
Fans will never forget DJ's "GAME!" call against the Tigers on July 25, 2004 when Joe Crede hit a stand up HR to win after the Sox fought back from being down 4-0 and hitless through most of the game.
Aside from a select few, you won't find announcers like this.
Well you can put this post on the board YES!
