Now it may be even less fun to be a soldier

I think the "fun" ended with Iraq. BUT this will surely put a dent in morale.

They might ban it. But I severly doubt it'll get enforced all that much except in blatently obvious cases. I mean seriously alot of those guys are overthere for a long time, with no wife. Lets face it folks 4 years is a long time for an adult male to go without sex. And yes they could just masturbate, but that's an awful lot of masturbation.

If I were the Army I'd have prostitutes on base. That would give one big hard on to morale.
The army was fun?
Hard on. Hahaha. Witty.

Is being in the army meant to be fun. Yea that real fun having to live in the desert and be shot at and risk being killed so like real fun[sarcasm for those of you that didn't already know]. I don't think ANY of the soldiers are there for fun they are there because they love their country enough to support it with their own lives. We need more patriots in America and we need more people who love America above ANY other country and would support it against ANY other country.

No I think most people join the Army because shooting guns, driving tanks, and blowing things up is coo. Plus being part of an "army" is just cool by definition.

Yep, killing people is 'coo'.

All for it here. We send our troops to the worst parts of the world and now we finally make it illegal for them to fuck prostitutes, recognizing that millions of women and girls are forced into slavery every year, in the very same worst parts of the world, to meet the demand. This is a step in encouraging the freedoms that we claim to support.

When you're in the Army, it is.
You think soldiers don't get highs off gunfights?
You can't have an effective military without guns and whores.
You just can't.
I've heard a lot of posters on here say the U.S. would fall shortly, and with this discovery . . . . I think they're right!

I didn't. Oh, don't get me wrong, its definitely an adrenaline rush. But it isn't exactly the high you might associate with such a rush. Rather, its more of a feeling of ultra-sensitivity and awareness of your surroundings. When you come down off that....its just a feeling of complete exhaustion. I wish I could describe it better. No movie I've ever seen does it justice.
Oh, and back to the prostitute thing....BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That'll never work. Prostitutes and soldiers have enjoyed a symbiotic relationship for over 2000 years. Trying to split them apart is like trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon.

Way more than 2000 years. Concidering that prostitution and soldiers are the 2 oldest professions.
And the military has been trying to clamp down on prostitutes for a while now.. they first used scare tactics. On my ship, during a west-pac (western pacific) cruise, we were told by medical department that if anyone had engaged in sexual activities with a prostitute anytime during the cruise, there was a 90% chance we came in contact with the aids virus.
They came up with this number by: 20% of prostitutes are hiv+ in this port, 12% in that port etc. ... so they did 20% + 12% + n = 90%. They appologized to us later for a "gross miscalculation". Meanwhile several members had written their wives already.. that wasnt pretty.
wont be enforced it will be a paper ruling unless your trucking in hookers onto the base the commanders will probably just adopt a dont ask dont tell policy.

Actually the Army is having to raise standards and effectively turn people away.
Overall, the army has achieved 99 percent of its re-enlistment goals (which are based on past experience), and attracted 100 percent of the new recruits it needs. Standards for new recruits have been raised, meaning that more people were trying to get in than the army could handle (Congress puts a cap on the number of troops each service can have on the payroll.) source (http://strategypage.com/search.asp?target=d:\inetpub\strategypageroot\dls\docs\200448.htm&search=recruiting)

Ouch. As we knew this going to happen all along; but it still hurts to hear of it.
We can get grunts; sure. But specialists, highly trained soldiers, basically anyone we invest considerably into are turning mercenary. The US is having "skill retention" difficulties, the private sector is buying up our greatest assets.

This has been goin on quite a long time. The problem really isn't geting quilified people but convincing the congress critters to pay out enough to keep them. More of them would stay in if pay rates were competitive.

Funny you mention that....when I was stationed in Korea we had a massage parlor on base that if one reportedly asked for "the special" he would receive "extra" attention. It stayed in business until the wing commander went in and requested "the special." He promptly closed it. ;)
