I think it's good that you're helping others to get into RPing. Good show.

Ok if no other ideas emerge, i may have one.

I am a reserructed nation, so i may have a rather large army compared to other "newbies"(345,000 regulars, and 1,400,000 reserve(thats about 2.5% of my population before i forgot this game for a month :P)). So we find some excuse why you other countrys would invade me, and i try to defend my nation alone to the last man... Well actually this seems a bit selfish and is packing much responsibility on my neck. So i don't like this idea.

Here's my take on RP of nations.

I'm developing a "region" composed of many large and small islands.

Here's the maps (GuildPortal: see "Information", "Maps" section) (http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=19651&TabID=178310).

Each nation's population is roughly determined by the size of it's island(s).

Conflict between nations is based, mostly, on:
1) Dislike of another's cultural values (their culture offends you)
2) Dislike of another's use of resources (ie: they pollute too much)

Each nation has "targets and tools" for aggression:
1 of each: ship, statue, airplane, "spybomb", factory.

Each nation uses/makes "global resources": Oceanfish, Oceanair, Skybirds, Freshwaters, Forests, Cows, Comforts.

A spread sheet of global resources will be constantly updated, showing who is using what, with "indicators" that show who is using disproportionate amounts of them.

(( Sample .xls at STATS [GuildPortal: see "Information", "Stats" section] (http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=19651&TabID=178310) ))

This disproportionate use of resources will be the primary reason that nations get pissed at each other, and start "military" conflicts.

The actual effects of military conflict is a slight reduction of population, but it mostly is just a slap in the face of the honor of the "losing" nation.

(( Think american-indian "counting coup" type conflict. ))

Each nation will have control over their population change (up is "breeding", down is "some sort of probably objectionable internal population elimination [internal 'war' or 'killing']").

Each nation will also have control over how they "weight" their use of Freshwaters, Forests, Cows and Comforts.

How they weight these uses will determine how much they "stick out" as abusers of global resources.

The actual RP will be much like a big family that loves to bicker. Think "large disfunctional family at Thanksgiving dinner after a bit too much beer". :D

That's the idea. We'll have to see how (if!) it works out.

That sounds kind of complicated... I don't know. Also, what does "TAG" mean?

I have no idea what "TAG" means..! :)

It's not really too complex.

It's would run sorta like this:

A: Hey,... Your're polluting the air WAY too much, your people are starving 'cause you don't invest in your cows, and you fish WAY too many oceanfish.

A: I don't like that, so I'm going to attack your factory with my ship.

B: Oh,.. please don't..! I'll ship you a bunch of our fish if you leave us alone..!

A: OK,.. but if anyone else objects, I'm going to attack you with them.

B: Alright then.

C: HEY,.. who's the oceanfish hog..!

..and a war of honor starts between the A/C alliance and B.

"B" is also on record as having a culture that doesn't like over-fishing. This tends to make other nations a bit suspicious when B starts munching a lot of fish.

Etc...

The idea is to state your nations "cultural ways" (we capture and kill those from other nations, we eat baby seals, we hate cows...) and RP based on the stats and friendships that you make between you.

As I said,.... still in development. :D

If you're interested in a thread then you tag it. That means that next to that thread a little blue box with a tick in it will appear. That enables you to keep up with the developments on that thread.
p.s Do you want my help or not?

Yeah, if you want to help then you can join! Also, I still don't quite get that TAG thing. I may be kind of dense but do you think you could help me out a little bit more with that?

In all fairness neither do I. If you want to subscribe to a thread you can just click on thread tools in the top corner. A roll down menu appears and one of the options is subscribe to this thread. People just like to be heard I think!

I still think that that sounds waaay to complicated for a newb RP. I've never RPed before and I still don't understand it. Maybe if you could tone it down or make a newb version we would use it. It sounds cool but I don't want this to be one of those incredibly in-depth RPs where everyone makes giant maps and twelve page descriptions. I want it to just be a casual RP where newbs can learn in a not-to tough environment.

Whereas it sounds very interesting to me. My nation has a very strong and distinctive culture, and I look forward to finding out what it is.

Let me know if you get this region going, Iakeokeo.
