The ban on assault weapons had no effect on crime, and ending the ban will have no effect on crime.

If ever there was a stupid piece of legislation, the so-called assault-weapons ban was it. All it did was ban cosmetic features like flash suppressors, bayonet lugs and high-capacity magazines.

one of the main arguments against assault weapons is that they can be used by terrorists. well the assault weapons ban was in effect when 9/11 happened. that didnt work. besides any hill billy with enough patience can get an assault weapon even if its illegal. do you honestly think that a terrorist will say, hmm well allah commands it, but if i get caught, assuming my belt bomb doesnt go off I could be faced with a fine and possible jail time :eek:
