racist white people. yup the racists are the key to power in the us. the democrats began going down hill when they supported civil rights and betrayed the dixiecrats. with the dixiecrats the democrats controlled at least one house of congress for 40 years, but as the last of the dixiecrats finally left the party in the late 90s the democrats finally became a "minority" party in both houses of congress. the democrats use to have the solid south, but now it belongs to the republicans.

so just remember folks who ever gets the redneck, cracker, whitetrash vote rules the nation. a fact the democrats are just beginning to realize much to their discomfort.

mhmm... republicans control the country because they are the superior party, and more americans like them...you know americans that support that dumb thing called the constitution, and americans that have morals.

Republicans favored the bill 138 to 34; Democrats supported it 152-96. Republicans supported it in higher proportions than Democrats. Even though those Democrats were Southern segregationists, without Republicans the bill would have failed. Republicans were the other much-needed leg of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

In the 26 major civil rights votes after 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.

and most have the sense to understand that. liberal whites on the other hand have some twisted desire to rush against their own interests toward destruction.

that is because the transition is relatively recent. sure in the 30s and even the 50s the democrats were the party of jim crow and the republicans the party of lincoln, but only slowly have the southern whites realized that the democrats were the party of minorities, special interests and jews. now that they are solidly republican the party is unstoppable.

Yep, like the Republicans were going to free the slaves and then be ok now let us just suppress you a wee bit at a time. Its a fact we were a entire nation of biggoted assholes (no political party spared) at one point of time. Now we are a better nation because of its equality. Now we just hate every person equally lol

Dixiecrats

Know why the south blocked Republican in 1964? When they had voted Democratic ever since the civil war?

exactly what i'm arguing. the dixiecrats are the key to political power in the us, and while they are not national socialists or overt white supermacists, they are the racist heart of the white race in america which still controls the balance of political power in this fine nation. hail my white brothers, who do have enough consciousness to realize which political party defends the interests of their people.

the democrats sure don't defend the interests of blacks...they just use them to get more votes. and I am very suprised that more blacks do not realize this.

I'm not sure whether your references to southerners are sarcastic or mean to be taken literally. If you really do believe that southerners are mostly racist and northerners are mostly unbiased, then you are a fool. There were numerous race riots in the north after the Civil War. Know how many there were in the South? None. In fact, the northern opposition to slavery was based on the idea that they didn't want it to spread to the territories because it would take needed jobs from northern workers. Not to mention that the majority of New England factory workers actually suffered more brutal conditions than the average southern slave. Uncle Tom's Cabin, and other such novels, are admittedly based on rare and extreme situations. This is not, and I repeat, not, meant to condone slavery. It is simply an honest comparison between the "wage-slaves" of the north and the slaves of the south.

That said, Republicans control the country now because the Democratic party endorses ideals that the majority of Americans disagree with. End of story.

no northern whites who are not urban intellectuals or leftover unions support the republicans too. the republican party is now the overwhelming magority party of the white race in america.

God help the American education system when it produces people who believe that the dixiecrats were in favor of the rights of black men. It stuns me that people today think that southern democrats were advocates of minority rights. The freaking Klan was made up of Democrats. Read a book, learn some history.

edit: dont you people know who was pro and against segragation?

i've seen this phrase before...newsmax, was it? you really shouldn't quote things without at least mentioning where they come from. in any case, i'd be interested to know which 26 bills are being considered major civil rights votes. i've got a dollar that says they all occur before the southern strategy takes effect.
