Yes. It sucks, it is boring and uninnovative. But the opportunity to totally rid the planet of the US in that game, makes it worth playing imo :) At least there each little world dictator can live out his/her dream world without causing real harm ;)

yeah in many ways it does suck but it gets a lil better with the expations.

i think the original was the best.. although compared to modern games its a pos lol... but hey it was first made in what year? early 90's

Fun enough to play, but too tedious to get through an entire game.

i personally love the game. after my sister crushed my game disk i had to go back to playing civ 2 the call to power(which is quite possibliy the worst game ever) i got fed up with it so i went and found my original civ. once you get used to the graphics, its alot better than the new ones. after playing that, i found my copy of a game called colonization. i havent stopped playing for 3 weeks now. i totally recomend it :p

Yeah, I thought it was really fun, but I agree that a given skirmish can get really boring after a while, especially when turns start taking 10 minutes, and you have to wait forever to build up enough of an army to attack.

Colonization KICKS ASS.

I remember playing that little gem for the Mac wayyyyy back when. Heh, I was TOTALLY freaked out when I first declared my independence.

As for Civ 3, it's pretty fun. It kills the hours nicely :p

and call to power is crap because it wasnt made by him, other ppl just used the name while he was busy working on civ 3

Alpha Centauri? Yeah, I have that. Pity they all hate you once you use planet busters, though. I like to stockpile them anyway, just in case...
