It occured to me that Dog is my concept of the archetypical American.

I take this to be a GOOD and POSITIVE statement of what it is to be an American.

How do you feel and why..?

:D

I find him to be a rather atypical American to be honest. First, he lives in Hawaii. Would that we all could live there ;)
He is a religious man, who does not preach. Such a rare thing nowadays.
He's a bounty hunter who choses to not use firearms. Again, a very rare thing.

Perhaps he is someone to look up to. I certainly think so. He is an example of "turning ones life around" and of a "good citizen".

Haven't watched the show, because it sounds stupid. Dog himself sounds stupid, and thus he probably is a good stereotypical American. But to be an archetype, one has to be foundational, coming first. Like Abe Lincoln! There's the archetypal American.

Links in. See post #1 again.

He is indeed unusual, but to me, an archetype of what the "best of" America is.

Good to see you've made an informed decision..!

Abe is also perhaps an archetypical American. Of a different sort. :)
