It's 2:04 pm where I'm at and I've begun preparations for tonight's dinner (some of ya'll may call it supper).
Right now I'm boiling some chicken. It will boil for about 3 hours until it's falling apart tender and then I'll flash fry it and put it on top of some Jambalaya (that's Cajun, folks) and serve with some fried salt-water biscuits.
What're ya'll havin'?

Hmmm...I think I'm going to have Spaghetti O's tonight. Last night I had venison. Speaking of Jambalaya, It's been way too long since I had some good Cajun food. Marti Gras was the last time I had Jambalya.
It'll be whatever I feel like microwaving after I get back from the lab tonight. :-\

Here we are keeping it simple: dolphin steaks with fried bald eagle eggs on top, with a lovely foxglove salad.

Ah ... I was raised on it. My grandmother was Cajun. I have Cajun food at least 3 times a week. Come on over sometime. I make a gumbo so good you'll wanna smack yo mama.

I would like to, but I currently live pretty far away from Cajun Country. There are no bayous within a 500 mile radius of me. :(

I take it you are using that metaphorically as a means to emphasize a point.

Nah ... American "French Fries" are thin, crispy things. When I was on holiday in Ireland, the "chips" were large wedges, twice fried, very moist and starchy. Chips are better.

Heh ... shame. Well, if you ever find yourself in NE Texas ... :D

Oh yeah ... "smack (or slap) yo mama" is an old Cajun colloquialism for when the food is so good, it makes you momentarily crazy and you might do something that you'd never even think about doing otherwise ... like hitting your mother.

Mum had these weird little things, like, nutty dumplings, but not as nice. They're called Falafel. Never had them before. Had some cucumber and tomato too. We have a cucumber plant in the conservatory and it gives out about 3 a week.

I live in Belgium, the land of culinary arts at least equal to France's, but in German portions. Luckily not the other way round. Dad is a cook and mom loves cooking.
But they're not home this week so I had sushi. I had to take a train, tram and a walk (and back) to get it, but damn is it ever worth it. That is how much I like food.

We have some really excellent cajun dives in Kansas City...operated by Louisiana ex-patriots, mostly. I had a Po-boy to make you cry on Friday.

I can't cook so I had microwave lasagne.
I've never had cajun food, but now i want to...
The restaurant I work at serves cajun chicken, but I'm fairly certain it's not anything like real cajun cuisine. To be honest, I'm not sure it's even real chicken...

DAMN, i wish i lived in your house. in the last 2 months i have eaten pretty much nothing other than canned soup, sandwiches (usually BLTs or PB&J), and breakfast cereal...the most elaborate feast i have prepared was when i openned a bag of salad and had it with some dressing whilst the mac and cheese was cooking.
tonight's dinner: beef stew (canned), pear chunks (canned), fruit juice (from can), and a bowl of Lucky Charms for desert.

Yikes! Well, it's an open invitation. If you find yourself in my neck of the woods, stop on by. I'll feed ya fat full and then offer dessert. :)
I never could abide openning cans. For your dinner choice, I'd make my own stock, pull veggies out of my own garden, and get fresh beef from the farm down the road for the stew. I have a pear tree and always have fresh pears. I'd probably go ahead and open a can for the fruit juice, but that's ok. As for Lucky Charms? Well ... I wouldn't even bother with those, but I made a pecan pie yesterday if you're so inclined.

If you're between 28-32, and from Minden, there's a fair chance I know you.

Heh..now I'm all hungry again.*Shakes fist at the lot of you*
I had a Subway Southwest Chicken Teriyaki sandwhich with green and sweet peppers and onions...
Eh, one of the most elaborate dishes I made, I spent 45 minutes making pasta just for a friend and I, because we were hungry. lol.
Prolly the most elaborate is a persian dish called Chello Kabob, with rice, and side dishes. The Persian philosophy is to always make more than your guests can eat, then make them eat it all. And if you screw up the rice, it's best to just commit suicide (so claims my mother, who happens to not be Persian but dad's side seems to have declared her an honourary one), than deal with the "dishonour" of them finding out about the rice...or so it goes in my family. Interestingly, no one's ever messed up the rice. ;-)
