John Kerry is a great man.

10. And finally, if you look up "Bushbot Assmunch" in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Phil Gaddis, owner of cellulose insulation company Enviromate in Moulton, IL. Not only does Gaddis put flyers in with his employees paychecks explaining that they owe their jobs to George W. Bush's tax cuts, he fired one of his workers (http://www.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/news/040912/sticker.shtml) last week because she had a Kerry bumper sticker on her car. The fired employee, Lynne Gobbell, said, "We were going back to work from break, and my manager told me that Phil said to remove the sticker off my car or I was fired. I told him that Phil couldn't tell me who to vote for. He said, 'Go tell him.'" So Gobbell went to Gaddis's office. "Phil and another man who works there were there. I asked him if he said to remove the sticker and he said, 'Yes, I did.' I told him he couldn't tell me who to vote for. When I told him that, he told me, 'I own this place.' I told him he still couldn't tell me who to vote for." Shortly afterwards, Gobbell's manager came to tell her she was fired, saying of Gaddis, "You could either work for him or John Kerry." But believe it or not, this story does have a happy ending. When John Kerry heard about the incident, he hired Gobbell (http://www.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/news/040916/gobbell.shtml) to work on his campaign - and now she has an office at the DNC headquarters in Decatur, makes the same salary as her previous job, and gets full benefits.

Hmm...would you ever see Bush doing that for someone? I don't think so!

I'm no fan of Bush, and most days his supporters, but I'll be advocate in that that is selectively speculative. It hasn't and isn't likely to come up (not because of the nature of the parties, but because most employers know better) and that if the shoe where on the other foot it is likely that not only Bush would do the same thing, but make a MUCH bigger deal out of it. Essentially, it's non-partisan that what happened was bad (the first thread on the subject confirmed it as even the most die-hard conservatives where amongst the first to post their discontent, a warm fuzzy moment.) Giving her the job was the decent thing to do, and would be as much as a no-brainer as kissing a baby.

True. So true.

Well how nice of Johnny, just over a month of employment! What is he going to do with her after the election? Hire her on as his maid for one of his many homes? At least he won't have her working in the White House as he won't be elected.

I just love how the Bush campaign has painted Kerry as a rich boy. Ah, the irony.

How will I be shocked? By all accounts Kerry is down by at least 5-6 points, he lacks a strong image, he does not have a very likeable personality, the American people think he would be weaker on defence, and all of this anger over Bush by the left has not been echoed by the public. So I guess you'll be shocked when this election turns out to be a pretty big win for W. God help America.

Why isn't Edwards out there pushing harder?

Just curious... how would you describe his fiscal situation?

I couldn't care less who wins the election. But I do wonder why the Dems picked Kerry, I mean could they have found a more unnattractrive candidate?

A more mega-rich, ultra-liberal, charisma-free candidate probably exists out there somewhere but I don't know where. Why did they pick him? What a disaster he is.

He's rich. How would you describe Bush's fiscal situation?

So where is the Bush campaign's room to criticize?

Try super rich for Kerry! Sure they have a prenup, but he's still married to Tootsie, who just happens to be worth nearly a billion. Way to marry up John! ;)

Dang, anybody know where I can find me a super-rich wife.

George W and the Bush family are super-rich too.

Are you suggesting that because George W is "only" worth 100's of millions instead of nearly a billion, that he's "more in touch" with the common man?

Not what anyone is suggestion... however your initial "irony" remark suggested that Kerry was something other than extremely well off.

As in the republicans were "painting" him as something he was not.

No, merely noting the irony of a rich elite painting his opponent as a rich elite.

Actually, among the four major people running (Bush, Cheney, Kerry, and Edwards), Bush has the lowest personal wealth.

He is just trying to win over the southern voters......something that he is going to have a very hard time doing with that accent of his.

If this is accurate then it's more a reflection of the shallow attitude of the Southern voters than anything else.

She has a job at DNC HQ, genius. Do you think it will close its doors after the election? Do you think there is no work to do at DNC HQ for three out of every four years? Engage brain before keyboard next time please.

Wow, you are insulting my intelligence over the internet. I hope you feel really good about yourself. You should as you are such a genius behind that computer.

BTW I guess you never heard of humor before, retard! You really think she will be around in the DNC after the elections and Kerry is defeated? A woman who is just a political opportunity! Next time engage your Faulknerian Idiot Man-Child brain and try to understand politics.

John Kerry is an opportunist pure and simple. He saw a chance to make some political points by showing that he "cares."

Granted the woman was fired for the worst of reasons....none, but Kerry does not really "care" about this. He is taking advantage of it and it gives his base a warm fuzzy feeling. When the election is over, this woman will be finished and out looking for another job. Afterall, what experience does she have?

Yes I feel great about myself for insulting your "intelligence" over the internet. :) Thanks for asking.

I have heard of humor. I just failed to see anything funny about your post. Was it supposed to be funny? Next time you might wish to try including a joke or witty bon mot, or satire, or even sarcasm. Heck, irony would probably do, or even a pun.

BTW you seem to have real wood for calling people "Falknerian Idiot Man-Child", don't you? You really like that phrase. Does this have something to do with some deep formative moment in your personal history?

In answer to your question: yes, and I do not believe that if Kerry loses the Dems will be stupid enough to fire her. Who doesn't understand politics? Polticians might be opportunists, but the smart ones don't screw over their photo-op partners when the lights go down, especially when they are the "common woman". Maybe you don't think that the DNC are smart, but until after the election and unless you can show me them dropping her (except "for cause"), I will remain pretty damned sure that they are smarter than you are.
