I like everthing other than PS2,but some of my friends thimk the Gamecube is too childish. Thoughts?
Btw I know PC isn't really a console, but about the gaming capabilitys.

Since I'm here early: Everything that is to be said on this thread is 90% personal preference. Each one of these companies sell enough systems and games to run themselves, and are therefore successful. Issues with technology (graphics) are irrelevant in two years, so it shouldn't be the main base for arguing.

Anyway, I just had to get that out. I get tired of people saying that this or that game system sucks without any base.

I'm currently a fan of the x-box, but its marketing is so damnably exploitive that I just have to keep on telling myself that halo LANs are worth it.

Pc's are nice, but are so expensive to keep up with current game technology, not to mention buying the pc in the first place. They have expansions and upgrade patches, but they also crash and have random issues with your compy.

what's not to like about the PS2? It plays godly games, isn't that what matters?

I don't care if my PS2 doesn't have capability to play with portable games
I dont care if my PS2 doesn't have uber-1337 power
All I care about are the games. And MGS2, MGS3, GTA. FFX, KH, Ace Combat 4, etc. are all I need to tell me that the PS2 owns.

Metroid prime has no content that a parent would find offensive, and smash brothers is 30% Pokémon related. I'm not saying childish is wrong, I'm just saying that they can cater to that market.

Personally, I prefer PC's because there's a lot more variety around - games developed by amateur programmers and so on.

Of course, there are some top-notch games coming out which are PS2 only, and Xbox only and the GC has a few very fun looking games out on it. It's all a matter of choice, there's no single be all and end all of gaming platforms.

I prefer FPS' as a rule, and a mouse is better than a joypad in my experience for precision and reaction. Still got a stack of FPS games for the Xbox though.

you missed Resident Evil

but no matter, that is simply a small amount of games. Believe it or not, the GC was developed to attract kids, not teens or adults. Sure, Nintendo here and there tries to bring in the older guys, but their focus is on little kids.

Cant blame em, the little kids are the ones who will swear loyalty to Nintendo in the future and will bug the crap out of their parents for a GC and games.

I played a bit of it, wasn't particularly impressed with the controls though. I'm kind of used to Halo style though, nothing that can't be gotten used to.

I used to own both a PS2 and a GC, but I sold the PS2 and am currently selling the GC because they just collected dust. I only played them when I had friends over for the multiplayer. Consoles just don't hold my interest anymore like they did turing the 16-bit/32-bit era.

I did buy a Gameboy Advance just because it has DooM (one of my all time favorites). Of course, I cannot find that damn game anywhere, so that too collects dust.

PC > everything. Perhaps it crashes sometimes (which is extremely rare with win2kpro/xp), but the sheer ability and versatility of the PC more than make up for it. Besides, devs don't need to worry about Microsoft 'allowing' them to patch games like they do on the Xbox (via XboxLive). Thief 3, anyone?

I'd say PC but Windows is so crappy . . .

PC should be the leader, on hardware capabilities alone, but with all the processes running in the background that are "Critical" system processes (around 30 on my machine) the games running in the foreground are given lower priorities in the process tree. Perhaps if the OS processes could somehow be compressed and loaded into a file behind the game/program in the foreground, then loaded back up when the game/program was closed, I wouldn't mind.

Counterstrike is my personal favorite for the PC as far as Multi-Player capabilities and replayability go.

But as far as consoles? Grand Theft Auto 3 and Blood Omen 2 are the greatest games for PS2 and deserve the recognition for gameplay.

You can set app priority in 2k/xp. Press ctrl-alt-del and select 'tasks', rightclick on the program you want and 'set priority-->realtime/high/medium/low/etc'.

Posting just to be an ass is just one of life's simple pleasures

I would say the PC, because of the versatility. But, I'd go with the PS2. I like the games on there, especially the Final Fantasy series.

i still respect the N64 and Ps1 though. after all, without the N64 there wouldn't an analog stick, plus the ps1 because of just some of the best games ever, such as final fantasy7 , gta and loads more

You need to add an "Other" choice. My favorite console is still my atari 2600, with my Neo-geo a close second and my turbografix 16 not far behind...

I'm caught between the N64 and the X Box. Oh, and PC I guess. N64 ruled. Some may say different, but it's true. I've always been a Ninty fan and the N64 was their best. Games like Conker's Bad Fur Day, Goldeneye, Zelda OoT, and of course, the greatest game of all time (in my opinion) - Perfect Dark. I have an X Box now, which is great, but I miss my N64. At 17 quid and 12 for PD I'm tempted to by one. Unless they remake PD anytime soon for X Box, that is. I own a Cube, and they're great. The only console I really dislike is the PS2. Don't ask why, cos I don't know. They just...suck. ;)
