Greetings All !

My coworkers and I signed up for Nationstates a few days ago.

We're enjoying it, but we're curious if there is some other game out there similar to Nationstates, but with perhaps a bit more for us to DO each day. (Not much, maybe 2-3 times as much. )

We're thinking perhaps bringing a bit of economics and / or military into it might be interesting.

Does anybody know of any games like this out there they could point us to?

(I did some Googling yesterday on this. Found some directories of games, but many were old... and I got a virus from one. Virus took several frustrating hours to get rid of, DESPITE the fact that I ran Adaware and Spybot and Hijack This.)

Thanks!

You've got SimCity, but that sucks it's way too complicated. I did hear that there are new things being developed based upon NationStates (that make it somewhat more intresting regarding Economics) and offcourse NationStates 2.

There's EVE Online. Broadly similar concept to NS, only the contested territory is a galaxy. And more to do. You have to pay subscription though, and download the game software.

Yeah, and I doubt downloading client software and running it off of machines at work would go over very well.

NationStates simplicity (in terms of text/graphics.... the web browser makes a great application, eh?) is good enough for us.

Also look at the:
Users who bought this game also bought these.

They looked pretty good, and they were fairly cheap.

Well, like I said, we're all at work on the same shift. A web-based game instead of a desktop-based game would be a whole lot better.

(In fact, I have to admit, I program in PHP and I used to do some Perl... so I'd LOVE to take a look at the code for NationStates just to see how the game "thinks". But then, that might spoil some of the mystique! ;) )

Thanks!

Try kings of chaos. When last i played it was free. Basic principle is attack, steal and build. Takes some time to get going though.

Not bad! Not sure if all of my coworkers will enjoy the fantasy races thing, but it's worth a shot. Wish it had a bit more of the political stuff that NationStates has.

See, that seems to be the problem: There are few online games that combine the politics / diplomacy with economics and battle. I can understand why, though. It's not to everybody's taste and it gets a bit complex.

Thanks!
