There was another where a woman was sentenced to standing outside a gas station for 4 hours wearing a sign saying "I stole gas"
I heard that woman was a few hours late to holding her sign.

Im just curious why someone who was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter recieved 180 days of jail sentence, 180 days of probation and yet the man who plead guilty to slapping his wife got 10 years probation?

Probably because he didn't actually do the slaughtering of man(or woman in that case). His recklessness contributed to her death, though. What I wonder about is the alcohol-ban pills and stuff. I didn't see anything there about the man being intoxicated.

Probably to enforce the humiliation aspect of the sentence. I still think there's something wrong here. It said in the wife-slapping case she had a substance abuse problem, which no doubt contributed to the confrontation and slap. So 10 years probabtion seems a bit harsh.
On the other case, true he wasn't driving the car that killed the woman, but he made a conscious and delibrate decision to speed in a reckless and dnagerous manner. He should have been aware that doing so, could have potentially serious, and fatal, consequences. He should have been given a far longer probation sentence IMO.
The problem with these 'public humiliaton' sentences, is that they can appeal against them and have them struck on the grounds that judgements are meant to be fair, not humiliating. Personally I'd like to see the stocks bought back. :p
