"Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of reasons, will somehow work for the benefit of us all."--John Maynard Keynes

That basically sums up my views on the Libertarian party. I think freedom is great and government is far too powerful, but I make no exception for capitalists. They are just as much authority and if you oppose big government, it is only consistant to oppose big business. The difference between the standard approach for me is that I think workers should manage the business direct democratically.

I am a moderate concerning economics - Overall I want as free a market as possible however I do support workers' rights, corporate accountablity, and minimum wage laws, etc.

I have a question for you Libertarians:

Do you support deregulating business so ast dismantle anti-trust laws? Would you want to allow corporations to create monopolies on markets and eliminate competition?

Also, what do you think of workers' rights legislation?

I think workers should manage the business direct democratically.
It's been tried a great many times, the major problem is that the business isn't very responsive to change and - I assume - also poor at planning ahead.

But yeah; Governments should be forever protecting the rights of the workers - the workers are the ones doing the voting, not the businesses. All a company is supposed to do is generate wealth for it's share holders, the workers are resources like the computers and power tools. So obviously their should be rules protecting the workers and their right to form unions.

I have, however, digressed.

Why? I can't see any reason why workers would be worse at planning than capitalists.

I would never disassemble anti-trust laws! As I said before, I am a moderate economic conservative! I welcome reforms.

And I also welcome worker's rights - I think they are great

What would you all think of the FCC being disbanded ife a libertarian finally comes to office? Letila, please don't rant about how you'd be happy nobody would censor the heck out of anime anymore - I don't like it either but you've overused that point

I'd be happy because people could finally take responsibility for their own sensitivities - if they don't like what's on TV then don't watch it; don't resort to the govt for censorship.

I think this thread is over-funded and over-regulated.

Time to get back to basics. :D
