Your friend should really research the origins of Jewish people before speculating about when we are going to conquer the universe.

Simple answer, if it really is the year 5756 (I think) in absolute terms then it's that year for everyone, the Common Era, or Anno Domine (Year of our Lord) numbering system for the years has nothing to do with the beginning of time. If it did, where would Mary and Joseph have come from?

Silly answer, it's a trick, we do have that technology we're just hiding it so that we can control the world.

There is a layer of silt in the ground that does not contain any signs of human activity, while the layers above AND below have those signs (like pieces of pottery, graves, etc). And the layer was put there by water. So the flood was real, at least for that in region in that time. And this event seems to have kickstarted some developments in the region, e.g. political restructuring and spread of Sumerian cultural concepts (building, writing, religion) far beyond original Sumer. The evidence for this (local?) flood does not, however, give any implications regarding theology.
