Mumia Abu-Jamal is a renowned journalist from Philadelphia who has been on death row since 1981 for allegedly shooting Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. the facts show that he is an innocent man being held in captivity due to police cover ups and one racist judge. but how can you help? well why not just print out the letter below and send it to governor Edward Rendell. you can make a difference.

Governor Edward Rendell
225 Main Capitol Bldg.
Harrisburg, PA 17120

Dear Governor Rendell,

Substantial evidence of Mumia Abu-Jamal's innocence has arisen since his trial in 1982 and has been unfairly disallowed in state and federal courts, including a confession from Arnold Beverly who agreed to testify! Beverly stated that he himself was hired to shoot Officer Faulkner and that Mumia Abu-Jamal is innocent of the 1981 shooting. There are also grave concerns about the fairness of Mumia Abu-Jamal's trial and State appeal. These include:

- Witnesses who have testified in PCRA hearings that they were coerced by police to change their testimony.

- His trial lawyer failed to aggressively defend the case, did not investigate or obtain crucial experts in pathology or ballistics.

- Police planted evidence and intimidated witnesses in his case.

- Common Pleas Judge Albert Sabo displayed bias and hostility toward Abu-Jamal and should have recused himself.

We urge your intervention to guarantee that justice is done; that Mumia Abu-Jamal receive a new hearing and that he be released immediately, given the fact that definitive evidence has been produced proving his innocence!

Sincerely,

See...here's the thing - the only people in Philadelphia who DON'T think that Mumia killed the man are RATM fans who don't know any better and people on the FAR left.

The cops to this day defend their stance that he shot and killed the cop, and there are enough witnesses that say he DID shoot the officer, as there are that say he didn't.

As for his lawyer "not aggressively defending his case", no appeals court determined that his lawyer didn't do a satisfactory job in presenting the counter-case. So...according to the law, his lawyer did a fine job. He lost.

Mumia should rot right where he sits. No matter what Zach de la Rocha THINKS he knows.

Nobody deserves to die. I don't know all the facts in this case, so I can't say release him ... but the death penalty should be completely abolished.

I'm surprised the guy hasn't passed of old age by now... I remember this crap when I was in college....

There's no point to this. The guys has been convicted and/or confessed to enough major crimes that he doesn't deserve all this sympathy and effort. Even if somehow he didn't kill the cop, still HE IS A VERY BAD MAN. He has no value to society and should be permanetly removed.

I've read websites with evidence against him and for him. The evidence against him looks more credible to me. I think he did it, and if they don't kill him, he should at least die of old age in prison.

If there's any doubt at all then he shouldn't be killed. If he is and turns out to be innocent then the judge, jury and executioner should all be tried for his murder.

Anyway, he only killed a cop (allegedly). Cops are the muscle men who prop up the govts protection racket, it is no different from killing a mafia gangster.

It is clear that Mumia Abu-Jamal did not have a fair trial, and while this may not mean he is innocent there can be no way that anyone can say he is definitely guilty.

I thought he had been taken off death row anyway?

If you have absolute faith in the police, the courts, and the death penalty then IMO you are a naive fool. Let us hope you never yourself never become a victim of legal corruption.
