I just came accross this article (http://japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=9&id=312302):

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi cries during a speech to members of the Japanese community in Sao Paulo on Wednesday.

While I think it would be OK, I don't think most people in the US would find it acceptable for their president to cry on national TV.

Opinions?

Hey, I wouldn't mind if Presidents cried. I cry too, though I keep this secret so my lack of "manliness" is not discovered...

i don't have a problem with nation leaders crying. It'd be a bit worrying if they did it all the time but it would show that they might, after all, somewhere deep down, be...human!

Which is precisely why they can't.

I mean, can you imagine what would happen if Bush cried? His whole motherboard would crash and Cheney would have to shell out for a new one :D

You're all missing the point: this happened in Sao Paulo! Can anyone who does not live there spend a day there without their eyes watering? ;)

Exactly, and it would depend on why they were crying. Because they lost an election (ahem, Gore)? Not good. Because of 9/11? OK.
