Any players here? What do you think about the game? Do you really see it as propaganda, or didn't it even cross your mind joining the Army?

Ill say this, I read in a magazine that now, 29% of recruits mention this game as one of the reasons as to why they joined.

It IS propaganda...but fun and free. Played for six months last year, with no urge to join the army.

I play it, but have not in awhile now....maybe I will again soon.

thats a good game I should head back to it heard they added strykers in. Im annoyed they never added the RPG game on like they were supposed to.

I played it for a while, then lost interest...the closest thing to urge to join the Army I had was considering doing AFROTC to pay for graduate school in about 4 years...but that was an idea I had before I had heard of AA...

Uh...they do have an RPG for opfor and the now have USArmy rocket launchers...I'm going to play right now..

Define "propoganda". It's certainly a recruitment tool, but its damage model is among the most realistic out there and it doesn't gloss over any of the more negative facts of military life (i.e. Goofing off gets you killed. Getting shot gets you killed. Playing Rambo gets you killed. Playing superspy and sneaking behind enemy lines is much harder than most assume, and will probably get you killed.)

I wouldn't consider America's Army to be military propoganda any more than I'd consider MS Flight Simulator to be propoganda for the airline industry.

I play AA, and I love it. It is much better when you find a clan or team to play with, cuse you get to see the results of your teamwork, and you make some friends along the way. I've been a member of a team for almost a year now, and it is the best free game massively multiplayer out there. Highly recommend it.

I play AA, and I love it. It is much better when you find a clan or team to play with, cuse you get to see the results of your teamwork, and you make some friends along the way. I've been a member of a team for almost a year now, and it is the best free game massively multiplayer out there. Highly recommend it.
2-28 is hardly MMO...

Reasons AA beats Halo.
1) AA is free.
2) Halo is on console--FPS is PC genre.
3) AA is free.
4) Halo is a rip off of Tribes, the best of the classic Online FPSs
5) AA is free.
6) You don't have to buy a suXBox and you've obviously already got a PC.
7) AA is free.

I would disagree. I, and just about every other educated person, defines propaganda as material distributed by a group that promotes or glorifies their viewpoint. I would argue that the AA development team has made a serious effort to develop the game into more of a combat simulator...neither promoting nor degrading combat situations, but instead presenting it as realistically as possible. The fact that some people enjoy combat simulators doesn't make it propaganda FOR the military any more than the fact that some people hate combat simulators makes it propaganda AGAINST the military.

By your definition, any material that imports ANY kind of knowledge could be classified as propaganda.

Naw, I just work better in a team. Anyone who's played AA knows that the newb who runs off to tackle the enemy head on, alone, is going to be the first casualty. AA is best played as a team game, and the Rambo newbs have no chance against any reasonably organized opposition.

as far as 9 goes...I don't like anything in that series or released by that company...but it's mainly because it's a different style of FPS. Half Life, CounterStrike, Doom, Quake, etcetera all glorify run in gun. In AA you have to actually be really good to run and gun...

When you added the word "newb" in, you fixed it..but in reality, I've been known to get as many as many as 5-6 kills in the first 60 seconds on Pipeline.
(from main pump room, past primary pump to oil exit, knock off anyone who comes in there and surprise everyone when I come up the ladder with the SAW...it doesn't work every single time and therefore I hardly ever use it...but it is possible...in a clan match I killed the entire opfor before anyone got inside using that strategy...it's all about misdirection.)

Maybe not the most effeciant, but probebly the most FUN group strategy in that game :D

The only prob is the Lag... Seriously, the best map is so lagged out that i've been cariied along by the lag across the map. I speak ofcoarse i speak of SF Hospital.
I don't play that map, but not because of the lag, but because I don't like it...and for some reason the USArmy servers have been laggy lately...anyways, all the other maps I play hardly ever lag unless the server is just having some sort of hiccup...and I have my graphics set up pretty high..

welcome to 3 years ago, i tried playing it but it refused to let me into any servers, same reason i cant play the free game, i think its RTCW, its cheat filters are shit
