Why do you Americans just assume everyone knows everything about America, unless it preferable to you that we really don't (even if we do) and then you use it as an argument?

1.) Personally if someone (regardless of nationality) does not understand a reference I make, they generally just have to ask and I'll do my best to supply the appropriate information.
2.) Noone, American or not, wants to take the time to link to a bio about a person every single time they reference that person. You don't want to do that, and neither does anyone else, so give them a break, okay?
because, as much as foreigners hate Americans they love watching our culture.
Also when I refer to the personal computer, I hope you understand I am refering to the thing in front of you, brought to you by America.

When I type a story about Agnes Kant being the hottest chick in Cabinet, I'd tell she was a politician for the Socialist Party to start with. Maybe a link with her picture. Tell you she's Dutch. That sort of stuff.
It's wrong to assume everyone knows who is who and what is what. Post links or a short description of the person/thing. I'm getting quite fed up with it.

We're not retarded. You are.
No need to flame LP. It's not worth getting a warning over, is it?

There's also decency which could help. It's nothing more then decency to tell everyone what you're talking about. I do not intend to follow the who-said-what in the US elections over google.

No need to apologize to me LP, I just didn't want to see you get warned just because you're passionate about this issue. :)

Generally speaking if you don't know who the people are who are being discussed the subject doesn't matter to you. Not every thread is for everyone. I don't expect that the people in het neiderlandes whatzit make thier thread comprehensable to me. I don't expect that the threads on the the Australian election or the british paralaments be laden with background info for me to keep up. If I want in, I do my own research. I'm already on the internet, so how much easier could it be?
Amercians are bitching to other americans. When we bitch to the international community (and some do.......no comment on that.....) then the information standard is different. But do you really want to get involved in the snipe fests over our political commentators and network anchors? No, you really don't even if right now you think you do. Trust me, man.

Yes, much like when you slow down at the site of a car wreck.. or train wreck.. ;)
What can we say, Americans just love to bitch, it is our national past time. We are very proficient at it, and part of that proficiency is denying others the right to know all of the facts of our argument. Heaven forbid we ever get around to settling anything.

We are the best at that aren't we?
Yeah, a lot of Americans don't know about America either...
Some news people interviewed random people...
"So, what do you think of Kerry?"
"Well, he seems ok. I think I like him."
"What about his running mate, Stew Ped?"
"I don't really like that guy..."
