I still think the worst disease to eventually die from is Ebola. Some of the things that happend to you before you finally succumb from that disease are absolutely horrific.

Aids?

Aids is a dissease from wich people die in the end after failure of the immune system, a simple cold can kill them. And it is not as painfull and spectacular as Ebola.

You know that it allready came out of Africa and even came in the US?

Reston, West Virginia, in 1989.
Luckily the Reston strain - which broke out amongst the monkeys in a quarantine facility for imported lab animals - was lethal to monkeys, but not to humans. A detailed study of the events surrounding this outbreak, which was dealt with by personnel from USAMRIID and the CDC, can be found in Richard Preston's book "The Hot Zone".

Another virus-induced hemorrhagic fever, closely related to Ebola, broke out amongst lab animals in the German town of Marburg in Hesse in the late sixties and thus was duly named "Marburg Virus". This one did spread to the human population, but it was a quickly contained, small-scale outbreak, limited to the lab technicians working with the infected monkeys, some of their close relatives and several attending medical staff.

Ebola and Marburg....horrific. I read the Hot Zone, although it was probably at least 4 years or so ago when I did. The one good thing about Ebola is that it kills people so quickly that it makes it difficult for it to spread.

Smallpox would be another horrifying one to die from...I think we've forgotten how bad that one is. There's another book by Richard Preston which is about smallpox...I recommend you all read it. Consider especially that the immunity for it hardly exists now, too, and it's airborne, and contagious as hell.
