Resident Evil: Apocalypse Review!

I went to see this movie last night with my friend, assuming that it would be a typical stupid, unbelievable zombie movie/movie based on a video game. The first few minutes were kind of slow with alot of talking but not much else but then once pretty everyone became zombies and the ones left had to kill them while they waited for help (and they had to find a little girl in school full of dead kids). Now I won't give away the ending, although it's probably not what you might expect. Now of course, this movie did have it's stupid parts. One is when the main character Alice, is in a gun store getting equipment but instead of staying there with thousands and guns and almost infinant rounds fo ammunition, she leaves for a church full of these mutated "things" and meets up with two police officers whom have both run put of amo and a journalist, who despite being absolutely terrified, continues to tape every second of what is going on. Also, when the group arrives at a school, they all split up (bad idea). It seems in one part when city police and Umbrella Corporation units arrive downtown that they'll be able to take down most of the zombies. While they do kill alot, all of the cops and most of the Umbrella unit are bit by the zombies. The three Umbrella people that end up escaping end up meeting alice, one of the cops (the other one turned into a zombie) and the journalist. They are all looking for the girl so they can get out. Problem is that "Nemesis", a creation of Umbrella, is chasing after the Umbrella units and infact everyone whom is still alive so the secret of the virus infecting and destroying the city won't get out. I'll leave it at that. I'll give it 3 stars out of 4.

The movie was not as good as the first one was. If you were to cut out all the F-words it would have been PG-13. The camera was overly kenetic, so you couldn't see what was happening when someone was attacked and the plot was as thin as a razor. Sure there were explosions and comedic moments, but almost no gore and you couldn't see the infected clearly because they kept moving the camera or blurring it. Stick with the Romero Dead trilogy and the first Resident Evil.

I never saw the first one, but I feel compelled to now.

I haven't seen it, but I want to. I've seen the first one (which leads into the second if anyone didn't know).

Of course the camera is gonna be wierd. Have you ever played the video games???

BTW, has anyone heard at the end of the first movie, the guys in the chemical suits say anything about the Nemesis Project when they were taking the infected guy away? It sounds like background noise but it is there.

Aye, 'tis. I think they said something like. "I want this one in the Nemesis project." But I'm not sure.

Bad camera angles should not transfer from the game to the movie, in fact they should not exist at all.

The first one was good, but too short IMHO. It seemed rushed, they could have made it longer and probably a little better.

I just got back from it actually. Hated it. Horrible dialogue, typical stereotypes, and less than decent acting. I had no expectations, but I'd have to say it's the worst movie I've seen in theaters this year.

This one seems more rushed. I just wish they would have stopped blurring the faces with the fast movements. You don't get to see a zombie's face for more than 1 and a half seconds.

I haven't played the video game so I don't know how far they strayed from it, but, other than how the ending didn't explain anything, I was thouroughly entertained for two hours.

One of the more stupid moments was when the S.T.A.R. woman asked "Who the fuck are you?" to Alice. Just the intonation was kinda stupid.

Comedic moment: the cab driver - "GTA motherfucker. 10 points!"

I liked it.

Damn, that's just annoying. I hate it when they do things like that.

Does Millia have a nude scene (like she does in EVERY movie?)

Eh, I'll watch it. It can't beat Dawn of the Dead though. That movie was awesome.

You can only see her brest when shes naked in the cylinder full of water or what ever it is and then when they let her out, they put a towel over her right away.

sucked.

not enough zombies, and the zombies didn't make sense- how come the t-virus infected the bodies 6feet underground in the graveyard, but somehow didn't effect the fresh bodies of the countless umbrella corp. goons that got blown away?

It's good, if only because Toronto gets nuked (Note: I live right near Toronto, and I love the place, but its always great to see the place get blown to hell :D ). Of course, it's Racoon City, not Toronto, but the city hall gives it away... and it was filmed there. Anyhoo, it does have stupid parts, but the GTA line was great. And it's altogether a fairly good movie. However, I do wish they had followed the games more closely.

Dawn of The Dead was most definately better. Of course I like the original Dawn of the Dead over the remake. 28 Days Later was also better than this.

Didja know that Romero is finishing it?
It'll be a QUADRILOGY now.

Check it out on IMDB. Romero is doing a "Land of the Dead" title which will finalize his Trilogy. (Note: this is *not* Diamond Dead, which is project after this, and I'm sure I may vomit my brain out due to the plot of this movie).

Also, Resident Evil: Apocolypse is based on RE3, not RE2.

Note: THe "Resident Evil" movie was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

Other W.S. Anderson movies:

Mortal Kombat
Event Horizon
SOLDIER
Aliens vs. Predator

....see a pattern yet?
