Ok, tell me what you think of this theory......
Firstly, in general, girls tend to be more sociable.
Secondly, when starting at work, doing a course, going to university etc Guys tend to make friends more quickly.
Why, if girls are more sociable, is this the case?
The reason.
The international language of football. Men just immediately start talking about football when they meet whereas women have to search for common interests and so therefore to not become friends as soon.
So watcha think?

Do you know why males make friends sooner? Because they will become friends with about anyone as long as they aren't particularly horrible and as long as the friend will keep them entertained. And most women don't have sports to bring them together. This would match my brother and his friends anyway. He is friends with all of the neighbor kids and will play with any of them, with the exception of one particulary annoying stupid kid that he dislikes greatly. As long as he can stand them and as long as he is kept entertained he will hang out with them. Whereas, girls tend to take a little longer to make friends, but they are often have a closer relationship with each other than boys might.
American football, or the variety played in those other countries?

Ok, whatever, but I love football and I'm female. In fact, I'm going to watch my university kick some Houston butt this very evening. Yay!
assuming we're talking real football here, and not that 'soccer' stuff >;-(
If we're talking about the "international" language of football, then this must be about the one people from USA refer to as soccer.
After all, it's called football pretty much everywhere else.

Judging by the thread starter's location "Devon, UK" then yeah, it must be soccer. In which case...
Boo, hiss! American football rules.

haha!
can't you guys just agree on 'sports'? :)
I'm not sure about your theory. I haven't really noticed guys making friends any faster than girls. I'd rather say the opposite is true.
So, 'nay' to your theory ;)

the cfl is so much more entertaining than the nfl.
and soccer was called football before football as you know it was ripped off from rugby.
and maybe the lack of knowledge about the international language of shoes is why i don't get along very well with most girls.
hmm...

Yes, soccer. hmph, tis not fair that REAL football has to be called soccer to please the Americans when 'soccer' is much older. Everyone knows that American football is just a rip off of rugby anyway.
