I will remember what happened 3 years ago. It was truly sad and a great loss. Honor those who died and God bless America.

In 2004 four on this day, the worst single act of terrorism committed on U.S soil, two hijacked jetliners crashed into New York City's World Trade center, causing the twin towers to fall; a commandeered jetliner smashed into the Pentagon, and a fourth plane crashed into west pennsylvania as the passengers apparently faught the hijackers. As of Aug. 8- 2,948 people were confirmed dead from the attack

We remember those gone, and we honor the firefighters and police who helped during the entire attack. God bless America.

Have you Forgotten? (http://www.minibite.com/america/forgotten.htm)

Oh, and God doesn't live here anymore, even the Bible says that the Earth was given as Satan's place and abode. Christian Believers will tell you that the Lord has created a place for them and will retrieve them on Judgement Day and remove them to that place. Hell need not be created, it exists here already, or will, depending on your perspective.

Without bringing God into it, I will remember the passengers who boarded those four planes, whether for business or for pleasure, and headed off never knowing that they would never see their families again.

I will remember the people who went to work that morning, some of them quite probably before their loved ones awoke, and never came back.

I will remember my students, who were panicked and trying to find out if their parents were alive or dead.

I will remember staying at school until 7pm, some of my colleagues overnight -- because with the city locked down and no public transport, we had to protect our students until their parents arrived to pick them up.

I will remember the parents arriving at school, hours later, still covered in ash, desperate to see their children.

I will remember my students, whose worst fears unfortunately came to pass.

I will remember my students, who as part of a school to work program, were IN the WTC when they were hit.

I will remember the nearly 400 firefighters, police officers, and EMTs who died trying to save others.

I will remember the burnt plane tickets and memos that dropped onto my house and yard that morning.

I will remember the concrete dust and ash we breathed for three months, and how I had to take my shoes and socks off when I got home and beat my socks out on the side of the steps before entering my home.

I will remember my niece waking up screaming about the hand that was coming to get her when she saw what was left of one of the victims in a photo in the newspaper.

Most of all, I will remember the indifference, callousness, and arrogance of people for whom this had no effect, and hope that it never happens to you.

God going hitting the Pentagon, shame about the twin towers, I don't agree with killing innocents, but my god did America deserve it.

I'm a little disappointed in my fellow atheists for trying to make this into a theist/atheist debate thread. This thread is for the memory of those lost on sept. 11, 2001.

I still remember being at work when the news broke. I was shocked and enraged. The greatest thing we can do to honor those who died on that day is to kill all those responsible for terrorism, and all those who support terrorism, and to help those societies where terrorism is born to progress beyond their current barbaric state.

For spreading your American ways around the globe, and killing millions of innocent people in the process. Open your eyes, look over the fence once in a while, most of the world hates America.

...you are a true jackass for saying that 2,948 people deserved their death when no one should have died

America deserved it? America has been an overwhelming force for good in the world. We are not completely innocent, no one is. Still, if anyone deserved to be attacked in such a manner, I could think of many more worthy nations. Saudi Arabia for their persecution of all religions other than islam, their policy of amputating limbs from criminals, their routine use of torture, their oppression of women, their policy of allowing parents to marry off their 12 year old daughters to old men for money, and their vigorous funding and promotion of their twisted values throughout the world with the construction of wahabi mosques and madrasses comes to mind

I'm not saying they deserved it. I don't agree with the killing of innocents, hence why we're having this discussion. They died awful deaths which they truly didn't deserve. The world was a different place 300 years ago, we helped the world more than killing innocent people. Do you know different the world would be right now if Britain hadn't been so powerful? The industrial revolution would have happened about 100 years later, and we'd still be riding about on horses.

Spreading American ways is a noble goal. What are these evil American values we are spreading? Equal rights for women? Protection of civil liberties for all, including minorities? Free speech? Yeah, I guess we will be the downfall of civilization with those wacky ideas.
