Do you share the same political beliefs as your friends?

Are your friends mostly more Liberal or more Conservative? Is this the same as you?

I'm aware that there are other classifications and such, but Liberal and Conservative appear to be the most prevalent ones. If you feel like answering this poll anyways for whatever reason, pick whichever you identify more closely with.

I personally am actually further right than conservative, but almost all my friends are leftists (Green, new democratic, and liberal party supporters, those are Canadian political parties for those of you who don't know, although green is in the states as well). A small number of my friends are conservatives and maybe 1 or 2 are more extreme right (closer to me).

I think it's more the fact that most of the people around where I live are more left wing than right, but it's still odd that most of my good friends don't share the same political beliefs

I am more conservative then all of my friends for the most part. I prefer having friends Liberal because most of the conservatives I know are authoritarian minded conservatives over most of the liberals I know are for individual freedoms that doesn't bother another person in the process. But I do know a few buddies that are like minded as me its just fewer in my neck of the woods being in a more liberal dominated state is all.

Most of my friends are conservative christians, while I'm a libertarian atheist.

I really have 2 different main groups of friends, one predominantly liberal, and the larger one is mostly conservative. I generally classify myself as a liberal, but I go to a military school, so most of the people around me are pretty conservative (well, one of them is a closet liberal, I'm trying to help him realize his true colors).

most of my friends don't give a rat's ass. or they're about the same as me (go ndp) but still don't give a rat's ass.

hell, my bf said that he thought layton would make the best pm, but then he didn't really like the guy at all so he voted for the communist party for the hell of it.

I would be bloody horrified if were to discover that my friends all (or almost all) were politically//religously uniform. For some reason I am reminded of the phrase
"Your friends are the people that know all about you... and like you anyway"

I enjoy a farily diverse mix of Far-leftists, Far-Rightwingers, moderates, and...uh, "other". Of course, getting them all together at a party provides some interesting discussions...and fights.

Most of my friends are liberal, although generally not as politically minded as I am. It's not surprising when you take into account where I live and what I do--I'm a writer in San Francisco. It would be odd if my friends were right-wingers. But I'm probably the most politically active among my peer group.

I'm an odd one. I am a far-left communist, but I tend to gravitate towards libertarians. My best friend is a Neo-Nazi (literally, not my opinion of him either). We don't discuss politics, we are best friends because we have one hell of a fun time together. I have tons of friends where I used to live who were conservative (mostly because the majority of the military is) so I guess that I just gravitate towards rightist economics and moderate social views. Or maybe that's because I don't know many socialists. Hmm, I have to figure that one out.

I have several friends who are Democrats, but they have mostly conservative values. I can't call them liberals, but they don't know yet that they are conservatives.

I'm an Anarchist. Most of my friends are either centre-left or centre-right. A couple of them are Socialists and one is a Communist.

Conversely, one could say that there are plenty of conservatives who haven't yet realized that they're not Republicans. What the Republicans have done the last three-and-a-half years in Washington is anything but conservative.

I'm Libertarian. My friends are pretty much all some level of liberal or have absolutely no interest in politics (sadly).

I'm pretty far left-wing, but I don't judge people on their politics (unless, ofcourse, they judge me first....then, it's on :p), so I have a mix of beliefs among my friends.

If my friends dont inflict their politics on the world I couldnt care less. If they do then I dont mid as long as they arent extremists. I strongly belive that there is a balance of sorts that has to be achieved.

Im mildly liberal and mildly left wing (so I think the balance should be a little left of centre). My economic views differ to alot of my fellow students as we are taught by a mainly right wing lecturing body and I choose to interpret things in a way most of my fellows dont think to do.

I have a few views (in general) that shock my friends.

In Britain, at least, there is a certain culture of allways hating the current government. In Britain one of the first forms of humour we encounter is political satire, be it through Have I got News For You, Bremner Bird and Fortune, Spitting Image, or whatever. We are raised to hate and make fun of our government, though when the time comes to vote, Blair will, I think still be in power... though having the leader of the conservatives being told never to come to the white house, is an incentive to vote him in just to piss off the Americans.

All of my friends are conservative, though in the last government they were all new labour...
