Kerry is slammed for voting for, then against the $87 billion spending package, but how come the Republicans aren't slammed equally for voting against, then for it?

Kerry voted for the package when it included language about how it was going to be paid for.

The Republicans voted against that same package.

The bill that the Republicans supported and passed against Kerry's vote is the one that did not give the troops the necessary body armor.

How exactly do you condemn Kerry, when ALL the info should lead you to condemn the Republicans?

Possibly because the liberal media has higher standards for Democratic polititicians than it does for GOP ones. :p
Or perhaps GOP has extremely good spin doctors who get their ppl to say the same wee sound bites over and over again at every opportunity ('Hatefest', 'WMDs', 'Saddam', 'Kerry lied' etc etc) until it's ingrained in the populace's mind that it must be truth. And of course the liberal media won't bother checking the facts. Cause it naturally assumes the GOP spin doctors to be truthful.
I love how it's Kerry's 'fault' that some troops are still without body armour. I mean the bill passed didn't it?! Has Kerry got that much power, that he can control what the Pentagon spends it's money on? Did the soldiers get told, 'Sorry you were due for protective body armour, but Kerry voted against the bill which passed so we couldn't buy some'.
Why are they still waiting? We're talking about a cost of $60M here - out of $87B. This represents 0.6% of the total extra granted. So what has that money been spent on, if not to ensure the safeguard of the troops.

bush is totally stalwart in his positioin, never flip flops.

i mean, as a good republican, he wants to:

- expand gov't agencies (homeland security)
- encourage gov't interference in state political processes (women's right to choose)
- incur massive gov't spending without regard to fiscal reality (iraq war)
- increase gov't control of its citizens (patriot act)
- big aid increases to other countries (universal health care for iraqis)

now if that doesn't sound like a SOLID republican, non-flip-flopping platform, maybe i don't know what it means to be republican...
