Looks like someone's been busy falsifying stuff. I would say they were made by some Bush hater.

Well, that makes no sense. What happened to the "liberal media?" CNN especially. Surely they'd not want this to get out. Oh wait, this is the real world, where sensationalism and ratings fuel the news.
Plus, what you stated is false. They mention 'doubts'...the article doesn't declare they are fakes. Just that a couple people are calling them that.
Just using Swift Vet Boat logic.

Possibilities:
A) They were forged.
B) They were in some sort of archived database and were printed out by a computer.
But I think it's safe to assume that the Texas Air National Guard did NOT have Microsoft Word in 1972. ;)

First of all...might be fake. I'm not saying they aren't, but you all get on Red Arrow/MKULTRA for misrepresenting his own articles, be consistant.
And second, I understand that in 12hour periods someone might not notice that a thread has been tackled and start another re-hash of what seems to be news someone may have not brought up and I don't have a problem with that...but in cases like these can we go on the assumption you might not be the first to jump up and down and scream like a monkey over this and at least check the first two pages to see if someone hasn't already gone on about this?

I highly doubt that even liberal media outlets would stoop to falsifying documents. This is clearly the work of extremist Bush hater.
Some of the media may want Bush out, but they won't falsify stuff. I know too many journalists to believe that. And if even if it was, well, you'd have to realize what that would do the credibility of all media in the US, not just the liberal media. But it would hurt the whole industry both left and right.

The Kerry Campaign provided the forged documents to CBS. That is what happened to the liberal media. They did not check this out before they attacked the conservatives with this. And they have not interviewed the Swift Boat Veterans at all.

Actually, the people who worked with the guy at the time and knew him for years said he wouldn't have written that memo as did his own son. Further, if you look at how the memo is written, that is not how you write memos in the US military.
Further, they have an independent document analyst saying it is fake.

Interesting point, if what the SBVs are saying is true, then how come they are not willing to be interveiwed? If you think Kerry wrongly got the purple hearts, you ought to have the guts to go television and tell us why.
It's unfortunately when people use hit and hide tactics, which are usually the tactics of cowards. Perhaps these SBVs are hiding something also. Does throw in some doubts, that maybe they've been busy faking stuff too. If not, then why don't they go before the nation and give their story directly. Unless they have something to hide.

Oh, the Kerry campaign did. Well, that explains it all then.
Fake or real, yet to be decided, but it does show the quality of US journalism. Fact checking is something you do *before* you run an article.
( Unless you're Fox of course, then you simply don't worry about facts at all. )
I swear, living in the US, the tv there makes me feel like I'm in a gold fish bowl.

Fox isn't the only one guilty of that. They've all done that.

It's not a case of not being willing to. It's a case of the liberal media not wanting to inflame the situation further against Kerry so they won't have them on.

I get to watch two elections at once right now. Australian and American. (The wife is American.) and the coverage is vastly different.
You US guys would be shocked at some of our coverage. Literally shocked.\

Not really. The problem here is that the MEDIA doesn't want to interview the SBV.
It's this really funny double standard.
When the SBV came out criticizing Kerry, the media came out saying how awful it was that people were attacking Kerry's "Patriotism", and how the SBV were a secret republican group, and how they lied, and how they were making the campaign negative and not attending the issues, blah blah blah blah.
They never bothered to check up the facts SBV presented, nor did they do much in the ways of interviews.
Then.
OMG!! MEMOS THAT PROVE BUSH WAS AWOL! OMG!!! PUT IT ON THE AIR RIGHT NOW. RIGHT NOW What? They might be fake? Of course they're real! Can't you read them. Damn, stop being such a Bush lover and just realize he's a liar.
Then of course theres the Kitty Kelly book.
Almost instantly she gets booked for interviews on NBC's Today Show. Even though her books are nothing more then heresay, and second hand rumors.
But OMG KITTY KELLY SAYS BUSH FORCED AN ABORTION111!!!! OMG IT MUST BE TRUE!!!!!111!!!!

Incorrect. Media likes ratings. The conservative beauro chiefs certainly do. Ratings means money for the corporations that own the media. Swiftie interviews would be rather popular right now, hence, media would be all over it. Try and learn how money and industry work a little please, and spar ethe conspiracy theories.

Oh c'mon, even you can't believe this-if you stick to this then I want a complete retraction of comments about Michael Moore's techniques. The media is so candy-assed about the Swifties that they now say "Medals Kerry allegedly recieved....despite thing like this (http://factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=244) and this (http://factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=231). It took, what, minutes for media outlets to jump on this as false? k.

The SBV's may seem to be partisan, but there is no denying that the group,
MAB (Mom's Against Bush) is clearly a very partisan group that doesn't use any pretension of facts in its ads all of which are clearly based on lies.

This is just bad for Bush. I'm sure all that the Swifties have to say about Kerry is false, but that didn't stop quite a few die hard right wingers to become fanatics. This will have the same effect on Kerry supporters: they will become more fanatical with their current suspicion of anything that works in Bush's favor. It'll be even worse if Howard Dean suggests that this is a government coverup, like he did for the terror alerts earlier this summer.

i don't believe that the main complaint is that they are partisan. more that they are outright liars in pretty much every respect that can be checked.

We're not here to discuss who was right and who was wrong. Dean could claim that Bush is Osama bin Laden in disguise right now, but I wouldn't waste my time disputing that. I'd be more interested in its political impact, as I am right now, especially about this memo, whether its authentic or a forgery.
