Stalin, because he actually had a hand in the things attributed to him. Hitler=puppet, Stalin=decisive. Not a good option either way really, but with Stalin, at least you'd get strength; despite the cruelty, that is a good thing. With Hitler you'd get cruelty and weakness, so there's not much going for him.

Not that i agree with what he began doing from the late 30s, Hitler was the best thing that could have happened to germany and turned a depressed country with a struggling economy into an indisputable world power. Just what england needs right about now...

Though it pains me ( as I prefer the left to the right ) I'd go with Hitler too...for the reasons above, and because I'd get to wear a much more spiffy looking uniform. Say what you wil, but those Nazis had great design. ;)

Hitler was a no God but Germany person, he eradicated religion too.

Seeing as I'm choosing between two people who hate religion. I have to say Hitler because of how he did for the economy.

they died beceause they didn't get enough food from the soldiers in the camps, who ate it all themselves

You all are forgetting this important bit though. Stalin turned a backwards country into the world's largest superpower. He industrialized the country after only 10 years in power. He pulled off 200 years of modernization in only a decade! Hitler did help the economy, but Stalin created an empire.

i think that was sarcasm so i'll respond to it:

like i said before:
in the soviet union there was a law that you have the right to practise religion
and no there were no churches burned in the soviet-union or priests hung in they're own churches, and no jews were prosecuted
ask the people who lived there

i dont say stalin supported religion or that he wasn't anti-religion but he didn't say you cant use religion like hitler

Hitler was a Catholic. He stated that many times. in many speaches and in his book. He was an alter boy when he was a child. His main reason for killing the jews was that they killed christ.
Hitler also sent any non-christian to the death camps as well. It was not just the jews that died in them.
He WAS a christian supremist. And he lead a holy crusade against non-christian. Just like so many christian supremist before him had done for hundreds of years in Europe.

Hmmm I'd disagree. At least you'd know where you stood with Hitler. Both were megalomaniacs, but Stalin was a real sadist who enjoyed the power. I don't think you can say the same about Hitler. Hitler was more obsessed with fulfilling his dream of a unified and powerful Germany, so he would only use terror tactics and executions if he thought it would achieve his goals.
Stalin on the other hand revelled in his absolute power. For example, his speeches to the Assembley: Whoever stopped clapping first was executed. He would arbitary decide how many dissidents and traitors there would be in a particular suburb and leave it to others to work out who. There are also stories that he would ring them during the night, asking them how many to be shot: "200 sir", "Make it 500." phone goes dead.
Another story I read about Stalin was when he was staying at his country house (what's the Russian word for that again? I keep forgetting) and was woken by a dog barking. He ordered his guards to find the dog and kill it. And then find it's owner and kill him.
Now Hitler never acted like this. So in conclusion, under Stalin, you would have lived in vastly much more fear than under Hitler. Unless you were a gay gypsy jew of course. Oh, and handicapped. And black.

I'd probably plot an assassination as soon as either of them try to take power.

Okayyyy...All the ppl who died under Stalin's rule, who were in the gulags because of him can't be attributed to Stalin. No, it was the greedy fat guards.
However, Hitler is personally responsible for every death caused during 1933-1945. That makes sense. I suppose he ran around all those concentration camps chucking the Jews into the showers himself did he?
Meanwhile Stalin was sending off lovely food hampers to all his political prisoners blissfully unaware that the poor dears weren't getting them at all, just those nasty greedy guards pigging out in the barracks. My, I bet Stalin would have been upset if he'd known.

I'd go with Stalin if Russia had at least twice as many people as Germany, otherwise Hitler. Whichever one had less a chance of death.

You all forget that Hitler permitted genocide on a catastrophic scale, executing millions of Jewish people because..they were Jewish.
Stalin may have secretly executed millions of people but at least he didn't allow mass ethnic cleansing in his country.

He also didn't invade neighbouring countries in an attempt to rule the world...

Somehow I'd rather die in freedom and social equality than be ruled by either of these people...But if i had no other option...definitely Stalin...

Hmn... as much as I do love my boyfriend, I'd have to say, living during Hitler's regime. I'm not Jewish, I'm white Catholic, so, I'm safe. I'm also mentally strong. So, I'd just have to keep my mouth shut and I'd be fine under that regime. I'd work as a quiet school teacher, never marrying...

Look in any book about Stalin he killed around 50 million, Hitler killed 6-11 million at most, you are the one that is disinformed.

Even the most conservative estimates give him a death count in the double-digits. I suggest that YOU ask a russian, and not one of the ignorant peasant class who were in the dark, ask one of them in the know and they'll tell you.

As to the question, Hitler. I am neither Jewish, homosexual, handicaped, a Gypse or black, have blond hair and blue eyes and the Nazis had spiffy uniforms :D

Even the most conservative estimates put it in the 8 million to 10 million range. Care to provide a reliable source saying it was only four? Because I've never heard the figure lowballed so much.
